Minnesota Toy Library

Toys are made to be played with—not quickly tossed aside. 🧸♻️

One estimate says about 1.5 billion pounds of toys are thrown away each year. Toy libraries offer another way: borrow a toy, enjoy it, and return it so another child can play. Sharing toys helps keep them in use longer and can mean fewer toys bought and discarded.

At the Minnesota Toy Library, families can find something new to play with without needing to buy and store every toy themselves.

A small change in how we play can help reduce waste—and bring more play to more people. 💛

Volunteers needed!

We need more volunteers to help out at our South Minneapolis branch on Wednesday, November 4th from 6 - 9pm. New volunteers welcome! Volunteers help put toys away and assist families checking in and out toys. It's a fun experience!

Our toy library is reaching more people every year! 🧸

In 2025, we welcomed 248 new members. Since we began lending in 2015, more than 1,900 people have joined the Minnesota Toy Library.

Our members include grandparents, therapists, families, and educators—and they come from all across the Twin Cities area. This map shows just how far the joy of borrowing and play can reach!

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of our growing community. 💛

📅 Mark your calendar: Minnesota’s Give to the Max fundraiser is happening now through November 19!

Give to the Max is Minnesota’s annual giving celebration—a time when people come together to support nonprofits that strengthen our communities. Since it began in 2009, GiveMN has helped hundreds of thousands of donors give more than $400 million to causes across Minnesota and beyond.

Why does it matter? Donations help nonprofits keep their programs running, reach more people, and plan for the year ahead. Every gift helps—and sharing the fundraiser helps, too! 💛
