What happens when a routine job suddenly turns into a rescue?

Yesterday, our team partnered with the City of Minot Water Distribution Department to work through several confined space rescue scenarios.

These types of rescues aren’t an everyday occurrence for our crews, but Water Department staff regularly work in environments where confined space hazards are a reality. That made this a great opportunity for both departments to learn from each other and train together.

We talked through different scenarios, then put the tools, resources and skills to work in hands-on exercises designed to prepare us for the unexpected.

The best time to figure out how we’ll work together during an emergency is before the emergency happens.

A valuable day of training, teamwork, and learning for both departments.

A big thank you to Town & Country Credit Union for opening up their S Broadway location to our crews for training before their demolition.

Access to a building like this lets our firefighters work through a variety of real-world scenarios and keep sharpening the skills they rely on when it matters most.

Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember September 11, 2001.

Today, members of the Minot Fire Department, Minot Police Department, and The City of Minot came together to remember the firefighters and law enforcement officers who lost their lives that day.

Participants carried the name of a fallen hero on a lanyard, with their story and biography on the back. Each name represented a life, a family, and a legacy of service that should never be forgotten.

Together, participants climbed 37 times, representing the 37 flights of stairs in the World Trade Center towers that many of these first responders climbed 25 years ago.

For our firefighters, those steps carry a particular weight. They represent the last climb of hundreds of firefighters who entered the towers that morning, knowing they were heading toward danger to help others.

Every step reminded them of their courage, their sacrifice, and the responsibility carried by those who continue to answer the call.

September 11 also reminds us of what came afterward. Our nation came together. Neighbors helped neighbors. Communities stood together. Differences were set aside, and people found strength in one another.

That spirit of unity is worth remembering, too.

Twenty-five years later, we remember those we lost, honor those who served and sacrificed, and carry their stories forward.

Day 2 of Fill the Boot continues! 🚒

Minot Fire Department crews completed a shift earlier today and should be back out this afternoon, barring calls for service, at:

• 21st Ave NW & 8th St NW
• 11th Ave SE & 3rd St SE
• 6th St SW & 16th Ave SW

Thank you to everyone who has helped fill the boot for MDA so far! Every donation makes a difference.

Crews will be back at the same intersections tomorrow, mid-morning and again in the afternoon.

MDA Fill the Boot is back!🚒

That loose change you've been restocking in your vehicle's center console since last year's event can finally be rehomed to a firefighter's boot near you.

Crews will be out next week on September 7, 9, & 10th at the following intersections:
• 21st Ave NW & 8th St. NW
• 11th Ave SE & 3rd St. SE
• 6th St. SW & 16th Ave SW

Last year, thanks to your generosity, our crews raised $32,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Fill the Boot has been a nationwide firefighter tradition supporting MDA since 1954, and we’re excited to be back out in the community again this year.

Don’t worry if you see a heavy presence of fire apparatus around the building, it’s all for training purposes!

Our crews will be at the Town & Country Credit Union S Broadway location throughout the week, using the building for a wide range of training scenarios.

Yesterday at approximately 11:13 a.m., Minot Rural Fire Department requested mutual aid from Minot Fire Department for a mobile home fire at Holiday Park Mobile Home park in east Minot.

Minot Fire crews responded and assisted with fire suppression efforts.
