A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has lent their name and voice to this campaign:
๐น Pastor Kurt Chaffee, New Song Church, Bismarck
๐น U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer
๐น Gov. Jack Dalrymple, 32nd Governor of North Dakota
๐น Eric Lundberg, Attorney, Fargo
๐น Professor Michael S. McGinniss, UND School of Law

๐น Ricardo Pierre-Louis, Founder, Magic Soccer Skills; teacher, Bismarck

From pastors to senators, governors to attorneys, law professors to community leaders, these North Dakotans all see the same thing: integrity, steadiness, and a deep commitment to the rule of law. As Jake Rodenbiker put it, Jerod promised to be a justice who says what the law is, not what it should be, and he's kept that promise.

Thank you Senator Myrdal for the kind endorsement!
"I wholeheartedly endorse Justice Tufte for reelection to the North Dakota Supreme Court. I have personally witnessed his integrity and excellent work ethic. I was honored to serve with Justice Tufte on a recent Judicial Nominating Committee where we reviewed numerous applications for an open Judgeship in the NE Region of North Dakota. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful and comes to the table with great depth of experience. As a legislator it is of the utmost importance to me that there is true separation between the Court and the Legislative branch. It is this balance that brings true justice to all. Judges are not to legislate from the bench, and this is a requisite to safeguard the Constitution and our system of government. I have observed Justice Tufte and read several of his opinions due to my service on the Senate Judiciary committee, and I trust he truly follows this original intent of independence. Serving the people of North Dakota on our highest court is not an easy job, and I am grateful for Justice Tufte's service and ask you to join me in voting to keep him on the Court."

Thank you for the kind endorsement former Governor Dalrymple!
โI had the opportunity to work closely with Jerod Tufte when he served as my legal counsel in the Governorโs office from 2011 to 2014. He was thoughtful, well-prepared, and deeply respectful of the law. Since then, he has continued his public service as a district judge and as a justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court. Jerod brings experience, steadiness, and integrity to the bench.โ

Then and now at the Devils Run Car Show in Devils Lake! ๐
Ten years ago, we brought our three kids to Devils Run and rode in Tyler Lannoye's 1954 Dodge truck. Today we were back with that same truck โ the kids are grown now but same great community and same fun.
Big crowds, nice weather, and rows of beautiful classic cars. Thank you to Tyler and Erika Kenner for all their help today, and to everyone who stopped by to say hello.
This is what I love most about campaigning across North Dakota โ coming back to the same communities, meeting old friends and making new ones. Thank you, Devils Lake!

Thank you for the kind endorsement Professor McGinniss!
โI am very excited to support Justice Jerod Tufte for re-election as a Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court. I am very proud to have known him for almost a decade, including during my years as the Dean of the UND School of Law. He has a very well-deserved reputation for excellence as a jurist, and his judicial opinions reflect his sound understanding of the important and proper role of the judiciary in upholding the rule of law in our constitutional republic. He has also been generous in sharing his time and expertise with our UND law students, including by speaking regularly at our Federalist Society student chapter events. As a member of the North Dakota bar and its legal community, and as a citizen of our great State, I am very grateful for Justice Tufte's willingness to devote his legal career to public service on our Supreme Court.

Memorial Day isn't about those who came home. It's about the ones who didn't.
I wore the uniform, and like nearly everyone I served with, I came back โ to my family, to my work, to a life. Too many North Dakotans didn't get that. They are the reason this day exists.
This morning the flag flies at half-staff until noon โ a quiet hour to remember them โ then rises to full, for the country they died defending. The whole meaning of the day is somewhere between the two.
If you have a moment today, spend part of it on a name: at a grave, a memorial, or in a story your family keeps. That's the work of Memorial Day โ and it doesn't take a uniform to do it.

โJustice Jerod Tufte earned the confidence of more than 60% of North Dakota voters in 2016. Back then, he promised to be a justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court who would say what the law is, not what the law should be, and that what the law should be is the job of the legislature and the people to decide, not the courts. Over the last decade, he has kept this promise.โ

Justice Tufte is grateful to receive Kent Reierson's endorsement, who is a former attorney at Crowley Fleck, Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and resides in Williston.
"I heartily endorse Justice Tufte for reelection as a North Dakota Supreme Court Justice. I actively practiced for 45 years in North Dakota. I had an opportunity to clerk for the North Dakota Supreme Court after I graduated from the University of North Dakota Law school. During my years of practice, I was honored to have been able to appear before the North Dakota Supreme Court numerous times. I have also served on several North Dakota Bar Association committees with Justices of the North Dakota Supreme Court including Justice Tufte. In my appearances before Justice Tufte, he has been prepared and had relevant and insightful questions. His written opinions follow the law and provide fact based reasoning for the result.
I worked with Justice Tufte on the Judicial nominating committee in which we reviewed applicants for open judicial positions in North Dakota including the District Courts as well as the North Dakota Supreme Court. I was always impressed with the work Justice Tufte would put in on following up with references provided by the candidate as well as with other members of the bar and community in the home area of the candidate. He had useful information and detailed notes of his conversations with those folks regarding the candidate. In interviews he was very engaging with the candidates and always respectful.
In personal interactions with Justice Tufte, he is engaging and easy to speak with about work, family, and random everyday topics. He is intelligent, studious, hardworking, and down to earth. These traits and his past performance and experience make Justice Tufte the most qualified person for the position on the North Dakota Supreme Court. I can strongly recommend Justice Tufte for reelection as a North Dakota Supreme Court Justice."
