Go Minturn Minturn’s oldest families settled at the confluence of Gore Creek and the Eagle River in the late 1800s.

Come explore Minturn’s quaint shops, historic Colorado architecture, great casual restaurants, and dozens of outdoor adventure activities – just 10 minutes from Vail and Beaver Creek! Some created homesteads and farmed the land, while others mined silver in the mountains high above town. With the arrival of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad in 1887, Minturn quickly developed into a booming crossroads for transportation and industry. By the turn of the century, a growing population of mining and railroad workers and their families raised the demands for business and services in town. In response, Minturn was incorporated on November 15, 1904. Minturn has adapted to several major changes in the local economy over the decades, including the development of Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts, the closing of the Gilman mine, and the abandonment of rail lines through Minturn. Despite this transformation from the Old West to the new, Minturn maintains its distinctive character, architecture and quality of life. Today, it retains its reputation as one of the friendliest towns in the Rocky Mountains.

The Town recently went to 1 day per week watering restrictions. There was some confusion around which day(s) watering was permitted. Residents may water on either of the previously permitted days (based on the even / odd watering schedule), however it is highly recommended to just turn off irrigation for the season, given the recent precipitation and cooler temperatures. Feel free to reach out to Town staff with any questions.

The Meyers Barn Project is coming along nicely. The roof is now on, and preparations are being made to winterize the structure before taking a break for the season. Construction will resume in the spring. A brief update will be provided at the Little Beach Park Playground reopening / ribbon cutting event on Tuesday 10/6 (5:30pm). Come check out the progress of the barn, and see the new playground.

LITTLE BEACH PLAYGROUND UPDATE

🚧 PLEASE DO NOT ENTER OR USE THE PLAYGROUND YET. 🚧

The playground will be open soon, but is currently still under construction, and the safety surfacing is not yet complete. For your safety, please stay off the equipment until the playground is officially open.

Thank you for your patience while we put the finishing touches on this week.
The Town will be hosting an official ribbon cutting on Tuesday, October 6th at 5:30pm. We will also make an official announcement once complete and ready for use.
