How to stop homelessness before it starts
Invest in people before they become homeless
Prevention is key

Homelessness can feel like an issue that’s too big and complicated to fix, something we've learned to walk past. Jen Loving, who leads the nonprofit Destination: Home, has spent her entire life proving that mindset is wrong. She shows why we must stop waiting until someone is pushed outside before...

San Juan Capistrano reduced homelessness by 85%. And they don’t just ban them to other cities. They helped them. Built a repore with them so they would later accept other services like housing. Great job SJC. Hope others follow your lead.

The answer is straightforward: if communities want to reduce homelessness, they have to address the underlying shortage of stable and attainable housing.

Please join us in welcoming Martina Narciso from Santa Ana College, one of our newest Operation Helping Hands scholarship recipients!

Martina's journey is an incredible example of what determination can accomplish. After coming to the United States nearly 20 years ago to work and support her family, she eventually found her way back to something she had always dreamed of: an education.

She began by studying English, then spent two years earning her high school diploma, all while working to support herself and her family. At times, Martina has even prepared and sold food to help cover basic living expenses while continuing to attend school.

Today, she is pursuing her dream of becoming a mental health professional, with the hope of helping women overcome difficult circumstances and inspiring others in her community to pursue their own dreams.

Martina reminded us that it is NEVER too late to bet on yourself, learn something new, and change the direction of your life.

Thanks to our incredible donors, her OHH scholarship will help provide some of the stability she needs to continue that journey.

Welcome to the OHH family, Martina! We are honored to be a small part of your story.

Please join us in welcoming Raelyssa Sanchez from Santa Ana College, one of our newest Operation Helping Hands scholarship recipients!

Raelyssa has faced tremendous housing and financial instability while pursuing her education. At one point, her family lost their home, leaving her without a stable place to live or even a quiet place to study. The challenges became so significant that she was forced to step back from several classes, but she never gave up on her education or her future.

Raelyssa's goal is to build a career in healthcare, where she hopes to one day serve individuals and families facing challenges of their own.

Her determination and genuine love of learning stood out to our scholarship committee. With the support of our incredible donors and her OHH scholarship, we hope to give Raelyssa something every student deserves: the stability to focus less on survival and more on achieving her dreams.

Welcome to the OHH family, Raelyssa! We believe in you and can't wait to see where your journey takes you.
