Today is National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. In Montana and across the U.S., gay men and other men who have s*x with men (MSM) remain at the highest risk of contracting HIV. In 2025, men who reported having s*x with men remained the population most affected by HIV in Montana, with 76% of new diagnoses reporting MSM as at least one transmission risk.

Let’s work together to break down stigma, support those living with HIV, and continue to advance prevention and treatment efforts. At Open Aid Alliance, we're committed to offering low-barrier services including affordable HIV testing and PrEP referrals to all who need them, regardless of their ability to pay. Call us at 406-543-4770 for more information about getting tested.

On September 18, we recognize National HIV/AIDS Aging Awareness Day. This observance honors the history of activism and medical progress that has enabled people with HIV to live longer, fuller lives, while also drawing attention to the continued need for support and advocacy for older adults living with HIV.

Older Americans are more likely than younger Americans to be diagnosed with HIV late in the course of their disease. Despite having the highest percentage of late-stage HIV diagnoses (AIDS) in 2022, only 19% of individuals ages 65 & older had been tested for HIV at least once in their lifetime.

Early detection leads to timely medical care, better health outcomes, and a lower risk of transmission. Open Aid Alliance offers affordable HIV, Hep-C, and STI testing. Call us at 406-543-4770 for more information. &Aging

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). For 25 years, IOAD has brought people together to remember those we’ve lost and to take action to save lives. The campaign is driven by important principles that Open Aid Alliance supports and strives to embody by offering low-barrier, evidence-based services free of judgment and stigma, including overdose response training & free community-based naloxone (Narcan) distribution.

Official IOAD Campaign Principles
💜Overdose can and must be prevented.
💜Overdose prevention solutions exist – let’s use them.
💜Criminalizing drug use hasn’t worked. Compassionate alternatives must be pursued.
💜Policy and legislation must exist to protect individuals and communities, and ensure basic human rights and needs are met.
💜Everyone has a right to respectful and comprehensive health care.
💜Only a community-wide effort can end overdose.

Overdose is preventable – when we act.
