On October 8 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Cooper Room A/B on Level Four of the library join MPL and Humanities Montana for an evening with author Nicholas Triolo, whose memoir The Way Around: Walking a Reimagined Path was selected as Montana’s 2026 Great Reads from Great Places adult title. Triolo will read from the book and engage with the audience about his story, his writing, and his enthusiastic love of libraries, in conversation with author and environmental studies professor Mark Sundeen, and end the evening with questions. Shakespeare & Co. will be on hand to sell books. Presented in partnership with Humanities Montana and the Montana Center for the Book, this event is part of One Book Montana, a statewide reading program inviting Montanans to read, reflect, and connect through a shared book.

📚 Books Matter. The Freedom to Read Matters.

When books are banned, stories disappear, perspectives are limited, and readers lose the opportunity to discover something that might change the way they see the world.

At Missoula Public Library, we believe libraries should be places where everyone can explore ideas, ask questions, and find books that reflect both their own experiences and those of others.

You don’t have to agree with every book to believe people should have the freedom to read it.

Now is the time to support your library, support your schools, and stand up for the freedom to read. ❤️📖

📚 At Missoula Public Library, we believe everyone should have the freedom to explore ideas, discover new perspectives, and choose what they want to read.

You can help protect that freedom by:

📖 Using your local library and school library
🏫 Supporting educators and librarians
🗣️ Speaking up for access to books and information
🤝 Attending community meetings and staying informed
💙 Encouraging reading and sharing books with others

Libraries and schools are stronger when our communities support them. Together, we can keep books, ideas, and opportunities accessible to everyone.
