Citizen Scientists needed! Do you enjoy watching the elk (and mule deer😉) on Mount Jumbo and want to help protect the herd? If so, then consider becoming a Mount Jumbo Elk Spotter!

Every year over 100 elk call Mount Jumbo their home for the winter. Elk Spotters help monitor the herd by counting the elk and reporting their observations using a simple to use online reporting form. This data helps land managers make informed management decisions when it comes to the elk and Mount Jumbo itself. Mule deer also benefit from the seasonal wildlife closure of Jumbo and the herd has a lot of nice bucks this year!

The first handful of elk have already made their way down and have been largely hiding out in the timber. We should see more elk showing up in the next couple of weeks. Will we beat the high count of 134 from last year?

🌻2500 Balsamroot and Lupine seed pods were planted last night on Waterworks Hill by the Conservation Lands Volunteers!

This was the last part of our three-part "Seed Pod Series" where volunteers collected native seed in the spring, made seed pods with the seed in the summer and then planted them last night bringing it full circle.
