Missoula Urban Demonstration Project (MUD) MUD empowers people to build a more sustainable community through tool sharing and hands-on learning.

MUD started in 1981 as a way for neighbors to help each other out and learn some new skills along the way. Fast forward through massive expansion of the tool library, moving to a more central location out of some well loved houses and lots of love, hard work and dedication, that's when we reach today. Today we still have a passion for community building and sustainable living but we look a little more industrial. Our upcycled shipping containers welcome members to an inventory of over 2,000 tools with which they can complete their projects. Plus we are conveniently located next to Home Resource for any additional supplies that you might need.

Join us for our Annual Wild Game Butchering Workshop! Whether you’re a new hunter or just someone taking advantage of Montana’s law allowing roadkill harvest, this workshop will give you the basics for how to cut up your quarry. The workshop will be led by Heather Graham who has been butchering her whole life and previously worked in a local butcher shop. She will provide a welcoming environment for all regardless of previous experience.

October. The leaves are falling, the mornings are cold, and the afternoons are gorgeous. It's also the perfect time to plant before the winter! You already know we got the tools you need for any outdoor projects you're trying to finish before November.

Join us tonight for our Mending Circle's first birthday party!! We also have a pint night with next Tuesday and a Spoon Carving Club at the end of the month! There's still some spots open for Women-Led Car Maintenance too!

This may be the MUDdiest workshop we’ve ever done😏

We are so unbelievably happy with how the Cob Wall Workshop went. The camaraderie, the dancing, all the people who stopped to watch us work, and let’s not forget this beautiful structure that we made; it was all incredible. Thanks to all of our participants, I hope you had as much fun as I did!

A huge thank you to Spiritwood Natural Building, AKA the greatest instructors ever, we could not have been able to do this without you, Daniel and Katherine❤️❤️

And a big thank you to Little Dumps Missoula - Landscape Material Delivery Service for all the materials, thanks to the Treacy Foundation and United Way of Missoula County for the support, and thanks to our Trench Digging Party volunteers, y’all killed it!!!!
