🏈 FALL BREAK STARTS WITH A LITTLE HOOSIER HYPE AT HATFIELD!

Happy Hatfield was pretty excited to have a special visitor stop by today as we geared up for Fall Break 2026...Hoosier the Bison! 🎉

Hoosier helped our students get fired up for IU Football, challenged some of our kids to a few rounds of rock, paper, scissors, stopped for LOTS of photo ops with his fans, and even helped keep the Hatfield office in order by answering a few phone calls! 😂

Needless to say, Hoosier brought plenty of excitement and smiles to Hatfield and helped us kick off Fall Break the Happy Hatfield way! A HUGE thank you to Hoosier for stopping by! We hope you have a fantastic Fall Break, Hatfield Families!

HAPPY HATFIELD CLASS OF THE MONTH!

Congratulations to Mrs. Willoughby’s 2nd Grade Class for being named our September Class of the Month! This class was selected by our "secret voters" throughout the building for being exemplary in their actions AND academics! They have represented Hatfield with respect, pride, and a positive attitude throughout the entire month. Their hard work definitely didn’t go unnoticed!

As our Class of the Month, they’ll get to enjoy a “Mystery Prize” from Mr. Fountain following Mrs. Willoughby’s spin on the prize wheel! Congratulations, Mrs. Willoughby's Class! We are SO proud of you!

Be on the lookout… October’s Class of the Month is coming soon!

Reminder: Scheduled Two-Hour Delay for THIS WEDENSDAY, October 7th!

MCS will be holding planned two-hour delay days on certain Wednesdays of select months: October 7th, December 9th, January 13th, February 10th, and April 7th. These days give teachers valuable time for collaboration and professional development to support student learning.
For Two-Hour Delays At Hatfield:
Car rider drop-off begins at 9:50 AM in the back.
Buses unload at the front at 10:00 AM.
No breakfast will be served on delay days due to lunch prep schedules.
Students may ride the bus or be dropped off—just two hours later than usual.

During these scheduled two-hour delays, teachers and staff will participate in valuable professional development meetings about reading, writing and math instruction, school safety, and social-emotional learning from 8:00-10:00 AM.

COLOR SPLASHING THE PRINCIPAL!

It was an INCREDIBLE morning of color, excitement, and LOTS of laughter at Happy Hatfield! Some very deserving and incredible students earned the chance to COLOR SPLASH THE PRINCIPAL!

Be sure to check out the pictures from each grade level and watch closely… 👀 The enthusiasm (and the amount of color!) grew with each group! 😆

A HUGE shout-out to our students for earning this special opportunity and for making this morning one Mr. Fountain—and the entire Hatfield Family—won’t soon forget! Happy Hatfield was definitely a little more colorful today!

Happy Custodian Appreciation, Mr. Bob!

Today, we’re celebrating someone who is truly one of a kind — Mr. Bob Kern! 🎉 Whether he’s keeping our school clean and shiny, building relationships with our students, telling a few good jokes 😂, or making sure those walkie-talkie calls are always on-point… Mr. Bob does it all! But more than what he does, we appreciate who he is. His kindness, humor, dedication, and willingness to help make a difference at Hatfield every single day.

Thank you, Mr. Bob, for helping make Happy Hatfield even happier! You are appreciated more than you know!

🍕 Pizza with the Principal — Second Grade Edition!

We wrapped up our Pizza with the Principal fun today with an awesome group of second graders! These students enjoyed kicking back in the comfy conference room chairs, sharing stories about friendship, talking about the things they love most about Hatfield, and, of course… enjoying some PIZZA!

A HUGE thank-you to Burris-Hatfield PTO for sponsoring this fun experience and to Chicago’s Pizza of Mitchell for providing all of the INCREDIBLE pizza! We are so grateful for your support of Happy Hatfield!

It has been a complete blast celebrating with our Kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders!

Speaking of BLASTS… there are quite a few Hatfield students who are already fired up about color blasting me tomorrow morning! Stay tuned!

For now, though, I think pizza will officially be off the menu at the Fountain house this weekend after three straight days of lunch pizza! HA! 😂
