Mitchell Police Department, Mitchell Fire/EMS, and Mitchell Dispatch showed their support for Domestic Violence Awareness Month today by wearing purple ribbons in recognition of survivors and those impacted by domestic violence.
A huge thank-you to these dedicated members of our community for taking the time to get a photo! We are grateful for the hard work you do every day to protect, serve, and keep our community safe. Your support helps raise awareness and reminds survivors that they are not alone.

Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers extends a warm welcome to all pheasant hunters visiting our community. We wish you a safe and successful hunt. At the end of each day, please secure your fi****ms and lock your vehicle whenever it is unattended. For local law enforcement contact information, please refer to the orange posters displayed at participating area businesses.

Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers Monday through Friday by calling 605-996-1700, or at any time through the P3 Tips app, available from Google Play and the App Store. All tips remain anonymous, and law enforcement does not collect identifying information from individuals who submit tips by phone or through the app.

The Mitchell Police Department is keeping the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, the critically injured deputy, their family, and all those affected by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

This hits close to home. We know the risks law enforcement officers face every day, and situations like this are a painful reminder of the dangers they encounter while serving and protecting their communities. Behind every badge is a person, a family, and a community waiting and praying for their safe return.

We stand with our brothers and sisters at the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office during this difficult time. We are praying for the deputy’s recovery, strength for their family and fellow deputies, and comfort for everyone impacted.

Last night at the Kernel Bowl, first responders were honored with the opportunity to conduct the coin flip before the Douglas High School vs. Mitchell High School football game.
