The Moberly Police Department is proud to recognize two of its officers on their recent promotion to the rank of Corporal. Within the department, a corporal serves as a street supervisor and takes on the role of watch commander when needed. They balance multiple responsibilities while working flexible shifts from days to nights to ensure smooth operations. Out of 27 commissioned officers at the Moberly Police Department, 5 now hold the rank of corporal.

The department highlighted these officers at this week’s council session during which City Clerk Shannon Hance conducted a swearing-in ceremony. Corporal Huddleston attended the Moberly Area Community College Law Enforcement Training Center and joined the Moberly Police Department in December 2019. He is an active member of the Moberly Area SWAT Team serving as an entry team medic, a certified field training officer, and the department's active intruder instructor.

Corporal Fredrickson attended the Law Enforcement Training Institute in Columbia and previously served with the Shelbina Police Department in Shelby County before joining Moberly in March 2025. He is also a member of the Moberly Area SWAT Team and serves as a department field training officer.

Please join our department in congratulating these officers on their continued growth and dedication to our community.

A SWEET TRADITION THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Moberly Police Department are once again grateful to the Moberly Optimist Club for continuing their annual tradition of donating Halloween candy to our agencies!

While the candy may be sweet, the generosity and community spirit behind this tradition are even sweeter!

Traditions like this remind us that strong communities aren't built by any one organization or individual. They're built by people who genuinely care, give back, and work together to make a difference.

The Moberly Optimist Club continues to demonstrate what community service is all about. Their generosity, dedication, and commitment to bringing smiles to others are an inspiration and a reminder that even the smallest gestures can have a lasting impact.

We are fortunate to serve a community where partnerships go beyond a handshake and where supporting one another is simply what we do.

From all of us at the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and Moberly Police Department, THANK YOU to the Moberly Optimist Club for your continued generosity, friendship, and unwavering support of our local law enforcement agencies.

🎃 It's more than candy. It's community, tradition, and the spirit of giving! 💙

Chief Calvert Receives Certified Municipal Official Designation

Moberly, MO (10-8-2026) – Police Chief Bobby Calvert recently earned the designation of Certified Municipal Official from the Missouri Municipal League’s Municipal Governance Institute (MGI).

MGI was created under the direction of the Missouri Municipal League’s board of directors to provide a training program focused on the important areas municipal officials and professional staff need for success. To achieve certification, a municipal official must complete 16 credit hours of training conducted or endorsed by the Municipal Governance Institute.

Through his attendance at statewide and regional MGI sanctioned educational events, Chief Calvert received training in subjects such as council meeting procedures, parliamentary procedures, the Missouri Open Meetings and Records Law, conflicts of interest, the State Ethics Law, duties of the mayor and council, tort liability, purchasing and bidding requirements, municipal revenues sources, personnel law, emergency management and budgeting.

“All MGI graduates spend many hours over several years attending workshops and lectures on the finer points of municipal government,” said Laura Holloway, Executive Director of the Missouri Municipal League. “Earning the CMO designation is a significant achievement, and I commend our graduates for their dedication and motivation to become better informed and more effective municipal officials.”

The Missouri Municipal League was organized in 1934 and now serves nearly 650 cities as the recognized voice for municipalities in Missouri. This voluntary membership program brings officials of cities and towns together to promote understanding of municipal government and administration in Missouri to advance the welfare of their communities.
