At its meeting Thursday, the Mobile County Commission recognized October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Mobile County. The Commission presented a resolution to Kristen Clikas-Murphree, court victim advocate program supervisor with Penelope House, and Tracie Ford, a member of the Daughters of Penelope.
Domestic violence impacts individuals and families across all economic, racial, and societal backgrounds. Addressing this issue requires community-wide education, prevention efforts, and a firm refusal to tolerate abuse.
The Mobile County Commission commends the vital work of the Mobile County Domestic Violence Task Force and local organizations, including Penelope House, which provides safety, shelter, advocacy, and support to survivors and their children.
All residents are encouraged to learn more about prevention efforts and show support for the individuals and organizations dedicated to ending domestic violence.
