Parents and Guardians,

We are administering the Practice Summative ACAP October 20th- 27th for grades second through fifth for Math, ELA, and Science for 4th grade. During testing, students must adhere to our school’s digital device policy and collection plan. Devices (turned off) will be collected in the morning before testing and stored in the class’s lock box. Digital devices include but are not limited to cell phones, smart watches, and/or anything that could possibly record, store, relay, or receive electronic information. Digital devices will be returned at the end of the school day.
Please make sure students arrive at school on time and are present. Testing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will finish around 3:00 p.m. before dismissal.

2nd Grade: October 20, 21, 26, 27 a.m. and p.m. sessions
3rd Grade: October 20, 21, 26 a.m. and p.m. sessions
4th Grade: October 20, 21, 23, 26 a.m. sessions

This will take place tomorrow! Students are still able to bring in $3.00 tomorrow to dress out in gold and jeans!

Help Hollinger’s Island support “The Berry Strong Foundation”. This is a local foundation that supports families with children who are suffering with childhood cancers.

On Friday, October 9th, students will be able to wear a YELLOW T-shirt and jeans for a $3 donation. Proceeds go directly towards research that is dedicated to finding cures for childhood cancers, raising awareness, and helping our local cancer families.

Join us next Monday, October 19th for our annual Parenting Day! We will be hosting Reading and Math Parent Workshops and hold our Parent Advisory Committee Meeting. You may also join your student for a picnic lunch! Hope to see you here at the island!

School will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2026 due to the weather. Please be weather aware and safe! See the message from our Superintendent Mr. Threadgill below.

As Superintendent, I must make all decisions with the safety and well-being of our students and employees in mind. We all know and recognize that weather conditions can be unpredictable and forecasts may change quickly.

After careful consideration of the latest weather information and the potential for inclement weather in our area, I cannot risk anyone’s safety, as again, the weather conditions currently remain extremely unpredictable. Therefore, all Mobile County Public Schools campuses and offices will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2026. I completely understand that closing schools can create challenges for families, and I do not take that impact lightly.

I appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we navigate circumstances that are ultimately beyond our control. Please continue to monitor official MCPSS communication platforms for any additional information or updates.
