We were very fortunate to miss the worst of Hurricane Isaias over the weekend, as it made landfall near Destin. Still, several residents were left without power through Sunday. Crews worked tirelessly throughout the weekend to restore power to homes within the city limits and for that, I am grateful.

There were also numerous city employees who worked through the storm to provide updates to residents or came out right after Isaias passed to begin clearing streets and roadways of debris. Members of our Engineering, Resilience, Public Services, and Public Safety teams went above and beyond to make sure Mobilians were not only safe but had the best information available throughout the storm. Thank you all for your hard work.

I am incredibly thankful that we were spared from most of the severity of the storm. Our thoughts and prayers are with our neighbors in Florida as they begin recovering from the impacts of this weekend’s hurricane. May they find strength, comfort, safety, and hope as their communities begin to recover.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during the storm and limiting your driving until it was safe to get back on the roads. However, there’s still some work to do.

Early reports indicate there were nearly 70 tree incidents and more than 200 total unit responses just from the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department during the height of the storm.

There are still downed power lines and trees being cleared.

Report any damages to 311.

As of this morning, there were 46 traffic signals still out throughout the city. We urge you to still limit your driving while crews continue to clean up.
