Trust. The. Nose.
Penny and I had an interesting track tonight. The hunter shot the deer around 9am this morning and didn’t like the shot she took. She did the right thing and backed out and started calling for help.
We gave the deer 9 hours before we started the track. Penny immediately locked on and advanced us to last blood. From there she thought the deer went left. I thought there was no way it went that direction.
After I relented and just simply followed her, she took me right to the buck. Unfortunately the deer was still alive in its first bed and took off across a swamp onto another property. The hunter will make another attempt tomorrow to get on the deer.
Penny and the hunter did EVERYTHING right today under the circumstances.
The nose knows.
