🚨 Scammer Alert 🚨

Scammers are targeting older Moliners and though we are tracking them down, we are asking you to be unified with us in combating this. How unified you ask? Use the attached picture for reference.

We need to work together to protect our family members and neighbors from being victimized.

We have noticed recent cases involving scammers targeting elderly in which the offenders portray themselves as being from the government and advising victims they must act now to avoid further problems. We know this sounds like quite the conundrum here, the government (us) warning you about the government (scammers portraying themselves as being from the government) but the offenders will have cues that you can detect and will help you avoid being the victim of the scam, regardless of how real it might sound.

Please be aware of anyone contacting you requesting money, Apple cards, gift cards, banking or personal information. The offenders will portray themselves as US Marshalls, tech support or even your grandchildren in an attempt to exploit you for your life savings. The offenders will advise you to act with urgency, tell you not to tell your family members or bank/credit union, they will request unusual things like gift cards or gold/silver.

In a recent case, detectives were able to track down and arrest Aman Aman from Fresno, California as he was crisscrossing the country as part of a larger ring. This particular case has expanded well beyond the borders of Moline and has now reached virtually all of the midwestern states. News story is attached below.

Here is how to protect yourselves or an older family member from being victimized by these financial scams:
Hang up on unexpected callers who demand money or personal information
Never move money to protect it because someone on the phone told you to
Talk to a trusted person at your financial institution before any financial transactions
Call us and we can send an officer to you to help you

By working together and educating each other on financial scams targeting elderly Moliners we can protect each other and your hard earned money from being stolen.

PRESS RELEASE
October 7, 2026
Moline Police Obtain Arrest Warrant in The Grinders & Spaghetti House - Moline Burglary Investigation

MOLINE, Illinois – The Moline Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for Chad Michael McDermott, 47, of Davenport, Iowa, in connection with the October 2 burglary and damage at The Grinders & Spaghetti House, 3210 Avenue of the Cities.

On October 2, 2026, the Moline Police responded to Grinders after employees discovered significant damage to commercial heating and air conditioning units located on the roof of the business. Investigators determined copper and HVAC components had been removed from the units during the overnight hours.

During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video from the business and other locations in the area. Investigators identified a suspect vehicle in the area at the time of the burglary and later identified McDermott through additional surveillance footage and scrap metal records.

On October 7, the Rock Island County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the investigation and filed charges against McDermott. McDermott has been charged with Burglary, Class 2 Felony and Criminal Damage to Property, Class 3 Felony. McDermott is currently being held in the Scott County Jail in Iowa on other, unrelated charges.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Moline Police Department.

We knew this weekend was going to be a big one for Moline and we prepared for it.

We welcomed tens of thousands of people to a few block radius along the riverfront this weekend for two of the biggest events of the year, same time, same place.

Many officers were there late Saturday and back at it before the sunrise on Sunday, helping pull off the incredible weekend.

Thank you to Rock Island County Sheriff's Office and Augustana College - Illinois Police Department for assisting us and ensuring the concertgoers, runners and their families had a safe and enjoyable weekend in downtown Moline.

Meticulous planning and ex*****on by our command staff allowed people like Emily’s mom(pictured below) to be able to enjoy these great events. For those that are wondering, Emily was killing the marathon and her family was beaming ear to ear watching her…so no her mom did not raise a pixelated word, she raised a marathoner!!!

It is truly our honor to serve you Moline 💙!
