83 Smoke Alarms. 28 Homes. 60 People Better Protected. 🚨🏠
Yesterday, members of the Monaca Borough Fire Department partnered with the American Red Cross for our Sound the Alarm event, bringing fire safety directly into homes throughout our community.
Together, our volunteers installed 83 free smoke alarms in 28 homes, helping protect 60 members of our community.
Beyond installing alarms, the day gave us an opportunity to meet our neighbors, talk about home fire safety, and help families make sure they are better prepared should an emergency occur.
A huge thank you to everyone from the American Red Cross, Monaca Fire Department, and all of the volunteers who gave their time to make the event possible. We also want to thank the residents who welcomed us into their homes and took an important step toward making their families safer.
Missed us yesterday? You can still request assistance with smoke alarms by contacting the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
🔥 Working smoke alarms save lives — and yesterday, our community became a little safer because of everyone who came together to help.

This was all because of YOU!!
Monaca and our surrounding communities. ❤️

You really showed up for this family, and we can’t thank you enough. The amount of donations and support that came through our doors was more than we could have imagined.

This is exactly what a community is supposed to do, take care of each other when it matters most.

We’ll have the station open again tomorrow morning for anyone who wasn’t able to make it.

From our fire department family to all of you

Thank you!

Please join us in congratulating Firefighters Kristen Cook and Cassandra Monahan on graduating from the BCFFA Fire Fighter I Program.

Over the past eight months, they dedicated more than 380 hours to rigorous training spending nights and weekends on classroom study, physical conditioning, live structure burns, and hands-on testing. It was a tough road, but they showed up every day and put in the work. We are extremely proud of their accomplishment.

We also want to recognize Chief Mike Siegel, lead instructor for the program, for the countless hours and expertise he continues to invest in training the next generation of firefighters.

Congratulations, Kristen and Cassandra your hard work paid off, and this recognition is well deserved.
