🚨🔥 HIGH FIRE DANGER – BUFFALO COUNTY 🔥🚨

Fire danger is HIGH, with warm temperatures and breezy conditions expected this weekend.

🚫 Avoid outdoor burning! Fires can spread rapidly in these conditions and put lives and property at risk.

⚠️ Please take this warning seriously and help keep our community safe!

Our fire danger map is showing blue and yellow, but it’s not for the Brewers – it’s to show elevated fire conditions this weekend, today through Sunday, Oct. 25.

If you’re planning to head outside this weekend to enjoy the beautiful fall weather, check on the latest fire restrictions before going out. Anyone who decides to have a campfire or warming fire should maintain at least a 3-foot clearing around the fire and keep the fire small. Always keep water and a shovel handy, and keep the fire attended. When you’re finished burning, drown and stir the fire with a shovel until the fire is out. Check the ashes with the back of your hand for any warmth and repeat the wetting process until the fire is 100% out.

Improper ash disposal is another common cause of wildfires. When disposing of ashes from a stove or fireplace, foresters recommend placing them into a steel bucket or metal garbage can. The ash should only then be disposed of by spreading on bare ground, such as a tilled garden or plowed field, when cold.
ATV and other vehicle users in the forests should check around their mufflers for dry grass, leaves and pine needles. This debris can turn into a smoldering cinder, fall off on a grassy backwoods trail and start a fire.

🚨 National Move Over Day – October 17!

Here in Buffalo County, those working along our roads are our friends, family, and neighbors. They have loved ones waiting for them at home, just like you do.

When you see flashing lights, MOVE OVER or SLOW DOWN. Give our law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, highway crews, and tow operators room to work safely.

❤️ Buffalo County, let’s look out for our own. Everyone deserves to make it home!

🚒 Celebrating New Gear for Our Firefighters!

We’re excited to welcome new SCBAs made possible by the incredible generosity and support of our community and the City of Mondovi.

The $199,000 investment includes 19 MSA G1 air packs, 38 air bottles, 36 face-pieces, and 4 handheld thermal imaging cameras! Funding comes from the City’s $90,000 budget, approximately $45,000 raised at last weekend’s Fall Festival, and $64,000 from previous fundraising efforts.

This new equipment will help our firefighters serve more safely and effectively. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make this important investment possible. Thank you for supporting your Mondovi Fire Department! ❤️‍🔥🚒

What a GREAT turnout we had for our Annual Mondovi Fire Department Fall Festival! 🎉🔥

So many pizzas were eaten, the music was rocking, and it was awesome seeing so many friends, family, and community members come out to support the Mondovi Fire Department!
