Monessen Communities That Care

Founded on July 01, 2001

Monessen Communities That Care (CTC) is a community-based delinquency prevention initiative which began on July 01, 2001 and serves under the state administration of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Our prevention efforts have been guided by the Communities That Care model for reducing prevalent problem behaviors among our youth. Use of the CTC Social Development Strategy has also provided the necessary opportunities, skills and recognition for reinforcing positive youth development. This same strategy offers the framework for youth to bond with caring adults in the community who model healthy beliefs and clear standards with the end result of increasing healthy behaviors among our youth. This past week, we had the opportunity to bring a few of our Monessen Youth Council students to WCCC for a powerful youth advocacy event. Our students had the chance to use their voices and be heard by state representatives, school staff from surrounding districts, law enforcement, and other key stakeholders.

Together, they spoke on the importance of mental health awareness and the real challenges young people are facing today. We are incredibly proud of our Monessen Youth Council youth for stepping up, sharing their experiences, and being part of meaningful conversations that can lead to real change.

Earlier today, we had the honor of celebrating our Class of 2026 Monessen Youth Council seniors 🎓✨🐾Such a bittersweet moment filled with pride and gratitude. From hearing students share their exciting future plans to reflecting on the impact that Monessen Communities That Care Youth Council has had on their journey it was truly a beautiful experience.We are beyond proud of each and every one of you and can’t wait to see all that you accomplish next !
