πŸš‘ Meet your Medic πŸš‘

This month, we are proud to recognize Carl Talent as our August medic.

With 36 years of EMS experience spanning California, Arizona, and Missouri (the last 5 years with Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance)... he has devoted his life to answering the call when people need help most. His career has included 10 years at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Tuscan Arizona, where he spent his final four years caring for children in the Pediatric Emergency Department. The knowledge, compassion, and calm he brings to every patient encounter are the result of decades of unwavering service.

Carl's commitment doesn't stop on the ambulance. He also invests in the next generation by teaching CPR, ACLS, and PALS, helping equip countless providers with lifesaving skills.

When he's off duty, you'll likely find him working in his yard, cooking for family and friends, traveling, and just enjoying time with his wife of 39 years.

Fun fact about Carl---- that many people don't know---- is that he loves to SING! 🎀🎢 Whether it's at weddings, church services, or funerals, he uses music to bring comfort, joy, and hope to others. As he jokingly says, he's "lost a couple of contests too," but anyone who knows him understands that touching lives has always mattered more than winning.

✨️Because compassion never goes out of style.
✨️Because experience matters.
✨️Because a servant's heart deserves to be celebrated.

We are very grateful to have Carl on our team. He is an incredible asset to our community and to our company. πŸš‘

Our July feature for the "Meet your Medic" series is Joshua Beyler (Josh).

With nearly 16 years in EMS, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the profession. He has been a paramedic for the past 7 years and has proudly served with Barry-Lawrence Ambulance for the last 3–4 years.

In addition to his role with BLCAD, he serves full-time as a Captain with the Eureka Springs Fire Department, where he continues his passion for serving and protecting his community.

When he's off duty, you'll most likely find him spending quality time with his family. He enjoys fishing, camping, and swimming, making the most of every opportunity to create lasting memories together.

Fun fact about Josh is that one of his personal goals is to become more involved with his church and ministry, continuing to grow both personally and spiritually while serving others in every area of life.

Josh is an amazing asset to our team. Our company and our community is lucky to have him. πŸš‘πŸ’ž

Meet your Medic πŸš‘

Our June feature is Mason Brewer. Mason has been a paramedic for Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance District for 7 years now although he has a total of 11 years experience in EMS/Fire.

In Mason's free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Mason also spends alot of time farming his cattle and hunting. Mason really enjoys reading and learning new things. He is always looking for new ways to grow in his knowledge and skills and tries to motivate and inspire those around him to do the same.

Like many people that work in EMS, Mason serves his community in multiple different ways. On top of being licensed as a Registered Nurse and working full-time as a paramedic, he also works as a flight medic for Cox Air Care and serves as the Assistant Fire Chief for Purdy Fire Department.

Fun fact about Mason is that he and his wife just welcomed their first child in 2025. Mason is loving every aspect of being a new Dad as he is learning how to balance all the different areas of his busy life.

Mason is an incredible asset to Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance and to our entire community. πŸ‘

We would be doing a massive disservice if we didn't take a moment out of our EMS Appreciation Week to recognize our crucial counterparts. The local Fire Departments, whether paid or volunteer, play such a huge role in the success of our job. They are often the first on scene providing Basic Life Support and First Aide until we can get there. They have the equipment, the skills, and the passion that is necessary in improving patient outcomes significantly. So to all our firefighters, we THANK you and appreciate your service to the EMS world. πŸš’πŸ”₯πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

With EMS week being upon us, we thought it to be a perfect time to start our monthly "Meet your Medics" series.

The month of May features our newest medic, Shala Bass.
Although just recently obtaining her medic licensure, she has been working as an EMT with Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance for over 12 years.
Shala originally started her EMS journey as a volunteer firefighter and loved helping people so much that she decided to go on and make a career out of it.
Shala works for multiple EMS agencies as well as being a devoted wife and mother. In what little free time she does have, she loves to go on cruises with her family. 🚒
Fun fact about Shala is that she also runs our education department here at Barry-Lawrence Ambulance District.
Shala is an incredible asset to our team and to our community. 🫑
