🐾 🎉 We are so excited to announce that Piedmont Middle was awarded the UC Education Foundation Thrive Grant!! This grant will fund FarmBeats, classroom drones, and hydroponic stands to support our AgTech efforts schoolwide. Students in our Agriculture and Robotics classes will be able to learn how the field of agriculture utilizes these real world technologies to transform the work. From drones delivering payloads or pesticides to probes digitally analyzing soil to determine what the plants need, models of these technologies will be in action at Piedmont Middle! We are so excited to see these opportunities come to life for all of our students in the months and years ahead! 🔐🐾 Breaking Out of Westward Expansion! 🗺️🔎

Our 8th grade Social Studies students are wrapping up their Westward Expansion unit with a fun Breakout Box challenge in the Media Center, led by our Instructional Media and Learning Coordinator, Mrs. Williams! 📚✨

Students worked together to crack clues about voluntary vs. involuntary migration, follow diary entries along the Oregon Trail, solve territorial expansion map puzzles, and more! 🧩🔓

What a great way to bring history to life while practicing critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving! 💙🐾

This morning, our newest Panthers had the opportunity to connect with other students who are new to Piedmont Middle! 🎉

Our amazing school counseling team hosted a meet and greet complete with snacks, games, and plenty of opportunities to make new friends! 🤝✨

We love helping our Panthers feel welcomed, connected, and part of the family! 💙🐾

Ms. Whaling's students brought Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart” to life by reading with flashlights! 🔦👀 Students explored how imagery, sensory details, and mood create suspense — all while gathering inspiration for their own narrative writing in the coming weeks. ✍️✨

Creativity in action! 🎨 For our Landscape Line Challenge, Ms. Emerman's 8th grade art students worked in teams using unexpected materials to build unique landscapes. They explored line weight, hatching, and expressive lines to create texture, depth, and mood. We love seeing our students collaborate, problem-solve, and turn everyday items into art!
