Thank you for the kind words, City of Brodhead, Wisconsin! We're proud to be a good partner, helping all the communities in Green County to continue to grow and thrive. If you have any questions about any of the GCDC programs offered throughout the county, just let us know!
Brodhead Basics: The Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) ⚖️
Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) is one of the biggest behind‑the‑scenes forces helping communities like Brodhead grow, thrive, and stay connected. Led by Executive Director Olivia Otte, GCDC works across housing, business development, community projects, and digital access, making sure Green County residents have opportunities to succeed. Their team helps bring grant‑funded improvements directly to local communities.
Below are several programs and initiatives GCDC is actively supporting that directly benefit residents and businesses in Brodhead and across Green County.
✅ The First Time Homebuyer Grant:
GCDC recently launched "Welcome Home Green County," a $10,000 grant for first‑time homebuyers purchasing or building a home in Green County. In exchange, recipients complete 20 volunteer hours per year for 5 years at an approved local organization.
✅ Senior Internet Reimbursement:
GCDC supports digital‑access initiatives that help seniors stay connected. Through local partnerships, eligible seniors can receive reimbursement for internet service, reducing barriers to telehealth, communication, and online resources. (Note: This program varies by municipality. Check eligibility through GCDC.)
✅ Zero‑Percent Interest Microloans:
To support small businesses and entrepreneurs, GCDC offers 0% interest microloans that help local businesses launch, expand, or stabilize. These loans are designed to be accessible, flexible, and supportive of early‑stage growth, especially for small, rural, or home‑based businesses.
✅ Free Downtown Wi‑Fi Coming Soon:
Thanks to an ARPA‑funded project led by Wendy Flanagan at GCDC, Brodhead will soon have free public Wi‑Fi downtown! This initiative supports residents, visitors, remote workers, and local businesses — making downtown more accessible and connected.
✅ Community Development & Local Projects:
GCDC also supports major community projects across Green County, including:
- Inclusive recreation spaces (like the ADA‑accessible splash pad coming to Brodhead)
- Housing development support
- Youth entrepreneurship programs
- Leadership development initiatives for adults and teens
These projects help strengthen local infrastructure, expand opportunities, and improve quality of life for residents. We’re grateful for the work GCDC does to support our community! 💛
