I’m going to post some stuff from my summer that I failed to get done timely. They will not likely be in any chronological order either.

This is a couple photos from the Monroe Old Settlers parade. The first is with George Pearson with the Ashley Hinson for US Senate campaign and Aniston Chambers with the Mariannette Miller-Meeks for Congress campaign. They are so great to work with. The second is with my wife Jodi and our granddaughter Finley. I love it when they can be with me in the parades!

My favorite event each year in Jasper County is the Monroe Old Settlers Parade! I love walking the route in my hometown passing out Tootsie Pops to folks I’ve known my entire life and their subsequent generations. It’s humbling to be a public servant and understanding the significance of that. As a county supervisor, we are charged with budgeting taxpayer dollars to fund county services. I never forget who it is that we work for. Thank you Monroe for a great night!

The Monroe Old Settlers parade is Saturday, August 8 starting at 7:00pm. If there’s any cool people out there that want to walk with us, we have plenty of t-shirts to wear to support my campaign and plenty of Tootsie pops to hand out. It promises to be a great time! I can’t say thank you enough to the Miller family for representing me in the Prairie City parade Saturday. I was at my niece’s wedding and missed the parade. In life there are so many things that we get distracted by, but there’s not many things better than knowing that you have close friends that you can depend upon. You guys are the best!

We have one more parade, Saturday, August 8 in Monroe. Please let me know if you’d like to walk with me at the Monroe Old Settlers parade.

I had the opportunity to drive Gary Leffler’s famous patriotic tractor! Actually I got to sit on it for a photo op, but it’s always a fun time when Gary is around! Notice the giant elephant looming in the background. The elephant is courtesy of the Republican Party of Iowa. We had a great time lining up for this year’s Jasper County Fair parade. The parade also started out great as the temperature became much more tolerable, but it was obvious there was a storm bearing down on us. About 3/4 through the parade the tornado sirens started going off and it began to rain. I finished walking the parade route handing out candy to anyone who still happened to be out. Most folks had left the area, but a few who huddled in the doorways of local businesses. There’s two more parade opportunities to help my campaign. Next up is Prairie City on Saturday, July 25.
