🥁🥁 DRUMROLL, PLEASE!!! 🥁🥁
🚀 Help us celebrate our 2026–2027 Rock Rest Teacher of the Year, Hollie Davidson! 🎉❤️
As a kindergarten teacher, Ms. Davidson helps shape the very beginning of our Rockets’ educational journeys! Her years of experience, genuine love for her students, and steady, consistent approach create a classroom where our youngest learners can grow and thrive. She is also a wonderful example of excellence in teaching for her colleagues!
Congratulations, Ms. Davidson! We are so proud to have you on our Rock Rest team! ❤️🚀 Union County Public Schools

🚀✨💫🌟

Barring delays or weather issues, we should see a vivid rocket launch off the East Coast tomorrow morning. 🚀

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 lifts off from Cape Canaveral at 6:33 AM, carrying the CRS-35 cargo Dragon to the Space Station. Sunrise in Charlotte isn’t until 7:28 am, so we’ll still be in twilight as the rocket climbs about 65 miles before it hits sunlight. That’s the perfect setup for the “jellyfish” effect, a glowing, spreading plume lit by a sun we can’t see yet.

What to know for the Charlotte area:
⏰ Look from 6:36 to 6:42 AM, about 3 to 9 minutes after liftoff
🧭 Face south first, then follow it toward the east
📐 It stays low, peaking about 14° up in the southeast (a fist and a half above the horizon)
Find a spot with a clear view toward the south and east, away from trees and buildings

The best odds are along the coast from Florida to the Carolinas, but the Charlotte area is in a good spot too. We just need clear skies to the south and east. Share your photos with me if you catch it 📸

Rocket families, please take time to read the following post from East Union Middle School regarding the current middle school building. UCPS is seeking feedback from members of the community. The survey will close October 11. East Union Middle School Forest Hills High School Union County Public Schools

Union County Public Schools (UCPS) is seeking feedback from the East Union and Forest Hills communities about East Union Middle School. The renovated East Union Middle School is on schedule to open in July 2027 on the campus of the old Forest Hills High School.

As the school prepares for its new location, we want to hear from the community about the future of the current school building, located at 6010 W. Marshville Blvd., and a proposed name change for a new middle school on the old Forest Hills campus. The name change is being proposed to align East Union Middle with all other middle schools that share a name with their cluster high school.

To get community feedback, a survey is available, and you are invited to a community forum on Thursday, October 1, from 6 - 7 p.m. in the East Union Middle Auditorium. The survey will close October 11 at 11:59 p.m.
