Attending the October meeting of the Maryland State Board of Education and listening to a student speak cogently on behalf of the Maryland Association of Student Councils. For the agenda, click on this link https://go.boarddocs.com/md/msde/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=CN2PB8637EFC

Photos from our Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE) Annual Conference. Always great to network with our colleagues from around the state. I'm so happy that MABE is starting an alumni association so I can keep in touch with the great people I've met and continue advocating for public schools.

I cannot fathom what the families of Silver Rail ES in Bend, Oregon are going through right now. They have the distinction of being the 26th K-12 school shooting this year. This is a choice that we as a country have made.

From the Teacher of the Year (TOY) Gala last night. While many photos were taken, I was remiss. I did remember to catch a few shots of our wonderful FCPS TOY and Maryland State TOY from last year, Alonna Soward-Puryear. Congratulations to Alicia Souder from Parkway on being selected the FCPS TOY. Her family, friends, and colleagues were there to celebrate with her.

Thank you to Principal Carmen Working for a great visit. I got wrapped up in the tour and didn't take as many pictures at Tuscarora ES as I should have. I spent eight years of my teaching career at TuES and it was wonderful to still see a few familiar faces. Thank you Janie Inglis Monier for accompanying me. It was a wonderful day!

Thank you to principal Heather Hobbs and AP Andrea Roche. Fantastic visit to my old stomping ground of Twin Ridge ES where I spent 13 of my 25 years in teaching. I was thrilled to see my last teammate, Margaret Lang Sears, who is now across the hall from my four-year teammate at Oakdale ES, Susie Susie Shears Spadaro. They had our classes in the morning and I had them for ELA in the afternoons. Such wonderful people to work with! Also saw a former student who is now a teacher, yay, Courtney, and Barb Cicmanec, who I can't say enough great things about. Janie Inglis Monier and I saw how the limited renovation is going.
