Mont Vernon Employee Spotlight!

Meet Jay Wilson, Chief of your Mont Vernon, NH Fire Department. He joined the department in 1979 BC, rising through the ranks to become Chief in about 2009. Unfortunately, his hair and mustache stayed in 1979.

For Halloween this year, the entire Mont Vernon Police Department decided to wear Chief Wilson wigs and mustaches to honor his tenure. Coincidentally, all members of the Mont Vernon, NH Fire Department will be dressing as Mont Vernon police officers as they want to look like super heroes too (at least for one day).

***WARNING***

THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE AND SENSITIVE POLITICAL CONTENT AND MAY NOT BE APPROPRIATE FOR ALL READERS.

It has come to our attention that some members of our community plan on handing out, or have been placing, black licorice and/or candy corn in the Mont Vernon Recreation Candy Monsters located at the post office, Mont Vernon Daland Memorial Library, Mont Vernon General Store, and Mont Vernon Village School. We appreciate your efforts to make Halloween fun, but we flat out disagree with and oppose your lifestyle if you choose to offer up these items to the children of our community. We can do better for our youth. We owe them that.

END OF RANT!

Skittles and chocolate are much preferred.

Bradley from Mrs. Millas and Miss Lawrence's 5th grade class decorated a special pumpkin and wrote a note for Officer D. for the Halloween season. Bradley tracked down Officer D. to deliver the pumpkin and note in person during lunch today. It was greatly appreciated and now occupies a place of honor on his desk. Bradley can't wait for D.A.R.E. class to start. Unfortunately, she will have to wait until the scheduled time, just after the Holidays. At least that's what her teachers told her.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers. Awareness is the first step toward taking meaningful action and it’s our actions that save lives. Here is Chief Slavin and Officer Johnson modeling specially made pink badges to bring attention to breast cancer. You may see them or other officers about town wearing them.
