Hello Friends and Patrons of the Montague Farmers Market! This is our eleventh Vendor Profile Thursday. This week's featured vendor is...... String Theory Studio and Sourdough!!

Ann of String Theory Studio and Sourdough sells sourdough bread, scones, focaccia, and more! Plus, seasoned nut mixes, salt/herb blends, and hot coffee. Ann also sells eggs and maple syrup from the farms that supply those local items for her baking.
When String Theory started at the Montague Farmers Market, no one was selling hot coffee and Ann decided to add it to her offerings. Coffee and baked goods are always a good incentive to get to the market!
Ann's youngest son (of 4 boys!) was her baking inspiration, as he was the original sourdough baker before he got busy with school and work. Ann still works a full-time job as a nurse and practice manager of a pediatrician's office in Chicago! She hopes to retire someday and spend more time baking.

You can find String Theory Studio and Sourdough on Facebook, the Montague Farmers Market on Saturdays, and at Healthy Roots in Whitehall! Stop by and say 'hi' to Ann at the market this Saturday!🍞🥐☕🫶

Hello Friends and Patrons of the Montague Farmers Market! This is our tenth Vendor Profile Thursday. This week's featured vendor is..... Lake Effect Apiaries!!

This is the 15th year of Adam and Katie Kokx's family providing honeybee products and services to the West Michigan area. It is also their 15th year of attending both the Montague and Pentwater Farmers Markets! Initially, they started keeping honeybees while living and working in Alaska in 2009 before moving back to live in Oceana County in 2011. Adam thought keeping bees to make honey for his side hobby of mead-making would be less expensive than buying honey from others (it's not). Instead, Adam and Katie built a business out of it by taking a risk, sending up a lot of prayers, and learning A LOT from mentors all over the USA and in a couple of other countries. Their inspiration at that time was to invest in possible self-employment because the economy was in extremely rough shape with low-paying jobs that could not truly support a family. Eventually, in 2015 they were able to make that a reality! Taking care of and learning about bees every year has been in turns a gratifying, frustrating and enjoyable career full of both gains and losses. As always, they are hopeful for a good year!

You can find Lake Effect Apiaries on Facebook, on the web at www.lakeeffectapiaries.com AND at the Montague Farmers Market this Saturday! Stop by and say 'hi!' to Katie and see what all the buzz is about 🐝🍯🐝
