🚶Pedestrian Safety Month
As daylight hours decrease, visibility becomes an important safety consideration. Drivers should remain alert, reduce speed when approaching pedestrian areas, and yield to pedestrians as required. Pedestrians should use designated walkways and crossings, remain visible to drivers, and avoid distractions such as mobile devices while crossing roadways. Whether driving or walking, slow down, stay alert, and make eye contact when possible.

I've never seen the geese on base do this before. Looks like they posted a few sentinels in front and back while the rest are just napping in the parking lot at 9:30 a.m. like they've got nowhere else to be.

Smoke alarms don’t last forever.
Check the date on the back of yours. Smoke alarms generally need to be replaced when they’re 10 years old, even if they still seem to work.
If you have no idea how old yours are, that’s probably a good reason to take one down and look.

This is going to be very, very difficult.

WEATHER PREPAREDNESS ADVISORY

California has proclaimed a statewide State of Emergency to prepare for a potentially historic El Niño during fall and winter 2026–2027.

This is a preparedness action. There are currently no reported life-safety impacts, evacuation orders or storm damage associated with the developing El Niño.

The coming season could bring atmospheric rivers, flooding, coastal flooding, erosion, mud and debris flows, landslides, high winds, power outages and road closures. Areas recently affected by wildfires may face greater danger during periods of heavy rain.

Naval Support Activity Monterey personnel and families should use this time to review emergency plans, check emergency supplies and make sure they can receive alerts from local authorities.
