We’re thrilled to share some special news — our newest Quick Response Vehicle is nearly complete!
It took four months to locate the right vehicle for the mission: a Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road with an automatic transmission, dual cab, and six-foot bed and another two months to gather everything we wanted for this special unit.
The vehicle is currently being professionally upfitted by Mike Wilson of CRS Upfitting in Harrisonburg and should be ready for pickup on Wednesday. This is the fourth vehicle Mike has upfitted for Highland County Volunteer Rescue Squad, and he always does a fantastic job.
Once upfitted, the vehicle will be professionally lettered, inspected by the VDH Office of Emergency Medical Services, and housed in the Williamsville area. From there, it will help deliver emergency medical services to a remote part of Highland County that is often 45 minutes from our main station in Monterey. This new QRV will provide more timely emergency medical response for the new Virginia State Park, Hayfields State Park, and residents throughout the southeastern portion of Highland County.
We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County’s Little Swiss Fund Grant for making this possible. Their generous $50,000 grant has covered a significant portion of both the vehicle and its upfitting.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this dream possible!
