Traffic Safety:

School is Almost Back!
Summer is flying by, which means school buses, crossing guards,
and hundreds of students will soon be back on our streets.
As everyone gets back into the school routine, please:
• Slow down in school zones.
• Watch carefully for children crossing the street.
• Stop for school buses.
• Put the phone away and focus on driving.
A few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference.
Let's help make this school year a safe one for every student in
Montesano.

Public Safety Reminder: Lock It or Lose It
🔒 Lock It or Lose It

It only takes a few seconds for a thief to check a car door.

Most vehicle prowls happen because the vehicle was left unlocked—not because a window was broken. Before heading inside for the night, take a moment to:
• Lock your vehicle.
• Remove valuables or keep them out of sight.
• Take your keys and key fob with you.
• Close your garage door if your vehicle is parked inside.

A quick walk around your driveway at night can save you a lot of time and frustration later.

Let's keep Montesano a difficult place for thieves to succeed.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

The Montesano Police Department has received reports of a telephone scam involving callers claiming to represent the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Marshals Service.

In these calls, scammers tell victims that their bank accounts have been linked to criminal activity. They often claim that an employee at the victim's bank is involved in the crime and cannot be trusted.

The scammers then instruct the victim to:

Withdraw all of the money from their bank accounts.
Take the cash home.
Wait for a "U.S. Marshal" to come to their residence to collect the money so the serial numbers can supposedly be verified as part of a criminal investigation.

THIS IS A SCAM.

The Federal Reserve, U.S. Marshals Service, and other legitimate law enforcement agencies will never ask you to withdraw your money or surrender cash as part of an investigation.

Scammers may try to sound convincing by claiming they know your bank account numbers, social media accounts, or other personal information. They may also pressure you to act immediately or tell you not to discuss the matter with anyone.

If you receive one of these calls:
✅ Hang up immediately.
✅ Do not provide any personal or financial information.
✅ Do not withdraw money or give cash to anyone.
✅ If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact your local law enforcement agency using a known, trusted phone number.

If you or someone you know has been targeted by this scam, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.

Please help protect your family, friends, and neighbors by sharing this warning.
