PROJECT UPDATE – 16th St. Resurfacing Project, Grinnell

Over the next couple of days, our contractor will be doing work on a culvert just east of the Penrose/16th St. intersection as part of the 16th St. resurfacing project.

Traffic coming from 370th Ave. will not be able to get through the intersection while this work is taking place.

Culvert work is expected to take the entire day on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Please plan your route accordingly and use an alternate route during the closure.

We appreciate your patience as work continues on this project. If you have any questions, please contact the Poweshiek County Engineer's Office at 641-623-5435.

Last week, Deputy Criswell and K9 Hannah traveled to Manhattan, Kansas for 5 days and successfully completed their annual narcotic odor and tracking certifications, with the Heart of America Police dog Association. They were able to train along side multiple other K9 teams from Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. They had fun but are happy to be back home serving the community. We also have a new Venmo for anyone that would like to donate to the K9 Association.
