Due to the potential weather impacts from Hurricane Isaias later tonight and through tomorrow morning, Gayle Planetarium will make the decision tomorrow morning (October 10, 2026) as to whether we will be open for public shows. This is due to the potential for wind damage, downed trees, possible flooding, and loss of power. Please call the planetarium office at 334-625-4799 (this will forward to my cell phone) after 9 am to inquire about Saturday October 10 operations. In the case of issues with the loss of cell tower signals and the call goes to voice mail or is unanswered, please assume the planetarium is closed. If the storms clear out of the area early enough and there is no major access issues to the planetarium, then I plan on being there. Thanks much for your cooperation and support!!

Stay safe!

It’s almost Fall at Gayle Planetarium! Don’t forget that on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the autumnal equinox occurs around 7:04 pm CST (equal number of daylight and night hours). Hopefully, this means some cooler weather … we can always hope, right?

Anyway, our 4th quarter shows start in October, BUT I need to let everyone know that the planetarium will be CLOSED on the following Saturdays (October 3 and October 24).

Stay tuned for our fourth quarter show announcement and upcoming Christmas show schedule! Remember to keep looking up!

(Note: AI generated image…unfortunately the interior of our planetarium isn’t quite this modern - just wish AI was smart enough to get the rings around Saturn correctly …oh well…🙄)

Have a great autumnal equinox everyone!!

NASA’s Juno mission continues to capture stunning data about Jupiter’s thick atmosphere and powerful magnetic fields, helping scientists understand how giant gas planets operate!

We love connecting fresh space news back to our dome presentations. Our team answers your questions about recent astronomical discoveries and what is visible in the sky overhead.

Bring your big space questions to our next Saturday show!
