The Alabama Jail Association would like to thank everyone who registered and attended the 2026 Fall Conference this week; we had over 100 attendees and we are so grateful to every agency for allowing their employees to come and be a part of this conference. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and sent Hurricane Isaias our way. We were asked to evacuate yesterday morning by 11 AM as The Island House hotel had our safety and welfare as their first priority; evacuation was mandatory for all nonresidents. We had a great conference planned, with exceptional speakers, events with our wonderful Corporate Sponsors and a special President’s Dinner but safety of our attendees comes first! Before we ended yesterday, we were able to hold our 3rd Vice President election and announce the winner. Congratulations to Parker Crosby, with Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, for being elected 3rd Vice President by his fellow members. We are excited for him to be joining the Board of Directors and believe he will be an asset to the Alabama Jail Association.
Congratulations to Paul Weatherly, Russell County Sheriff’s Office, for taking over as President! We are excited to have him as President and looking forward to 2027. Kelley Barron (Pike County Sheriff’s Office) will take over as 1st Vice President and Shelia Threat (Lee County Sheriff’s Office) will take over as 2nd Vice President. Due to hurricane evacuations we were not able to get a picture of the 2027-2029 Board of Directors but will post one as soon as we can.
We would like to thank Carl Bradley, Orange Beach Police Department, for serving as President since 2024. President Bradley has served this association with dignity, honor and pride. Every decision he has made, over the past two years, he made with the association’s best interest in mind. He dedicated himself to serving this association well and he did that and more. Carl will take the position of Immediate Past President for the next two years and assist President Weatherly when needed.
To all of our corporate sponsors…. Thank you for your commitment to us and your continued support. We could not do this without all of you! Your support means so much to us and all of you do so much for us before, during and after every conference. Our sponsors and vendors and truly the best!
Our goals for 2027 will be to get more counties involved with the association, hopefully gain twice as many members (we currently have over 130 members), hopefully gain more support from our Alabama Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police and bring valuable training to our conference attendees. We are eager to get to work and make 2027 our best year yet!
We hope everyone made it home safe, despite heavy traffic and congested interstates, and look forward to seeing everyone at the 2027 Spring Conference.
