Our Canned Food Drive continues for the rest of this week! We encourage all students and families to participate by donating the requested food items to help support families in our community.

📚 Grades K–5 are encouraged to bring canned goods to help families in need throughout our community.

🐆 Seth Johnson Elementary School – Jaguar Nation 🖤💛

We have an important update regarding the ACAP Reading Assessment!

The Alabama State Department of Education has increased the minimum required score for the ACAP Reading Assessment.

📌 Beginning Spring 2027, all Alabama 3rd grade students must score 454 or higher to meet the reading requirement for promotion to 4th grade.

📈 This is a 10-point increase from last year!

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Under the Alabama Literacy Act (ALA), students who do not meet the required score and do not qualify for a good cause exemption may be retained in 3rd grade.

📖 Parents, let's work together! We encourage you to read with your child daily, practice reading comprehension skills, and stay connected with your child's teacher.

El Departamento de Educación del Estado de Alabama ha aumentado el puntaje mínimo requerido para la evaluación de lectura ACAP.

📌 A partir de la primavera de 2027, los estudiantes de 3er grado deberán obtener un puntaje de 454 o más para avanzar al 4.º grado.

Montgomery Fire Rescue is excited to invite your elementary students to participate in our Fire Prevention Week Drawing Competition!

This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety,” focusing on the importance of safe charging practices and fire safety.

We are asking students to draw or color a Fire Prevention Week picture for a chance to be selected as one of two winners.

🔥 Competition Details

Who: All elementary students
What: Complete the provided Fire Prevention Week coloring/drawing sheet
Submission Dates: October 8–October 13
How to Submit: Completed artwork should be emailed to [email protected]
Winners: Two students will be selected and announced on October 15
The printable coloring sheet is available by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer.
