Wayne County Rescue Squad The WCRS mission is to save lives and help protect the citizens of Wayne County, to assist other departments within the county and surrounding Counties.

The Monticello / Wayne County Rescue Squad is a private non-profit organization dedicated to serving the people of the city of Monticello & Wayne County, Kentucky. We are made up of volunteers from our service area and do not charge for our services. We are supported by donations, grants, fundraisers, and a yearly contribution from the Wayne County Fiscal Court and from the City of Monticello. Again, none of our members are paid, and in fact, usually purchase most of their own equipment and pay related costs in acquiring their training.

The Wayne County Rescue Squad was called out to search for a missing side by side rider on Sunday Sept 20, 2026. He was located uninjured by the Wayne County search team just before dark Sunday afternoon nearly 24 hours after becoming separated from his group the night before. Multiple agencies, friends, family, and community members were involved from multiple counties including Wayne, McCreary, and Fentress County Tennessee. Some of the agencies involved included the Wayne County Rescue Squad, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the Fentress County Volunteer Rescue Squad, the Fentress County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Wayne County and Fentress County 911 centers, McCreary County Fire Department volunteers, Tennessee State Park Rangers, and Wayne County EMS who were placed on standby in case they were needed. It was a massive turnout of community and professional volunteers and we know we have missed listing some and we apologize. We were glad this had a happy outcome.
Reminder: never ride alone and always tell someone where you plan to go! Be safe.

On Thursday night at approximately 11:45 PM, the squad was paged out for a possible boat accident in the area between Camp Earl Wallace and Ramsey Point. Squad members responded and found a boat had run completely aground. The occupants were uninjured and transported back to Camp Earl's ramp and later back to their campsite. Rescue Squad and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife responding. Boat remains aground until it can be retrieved at a later date. Be safe on the water this Poker Run weekend and wear your life jackets.

We’ve noticed there have been quite a few questions, and unfortunately, some disagreements in the comments recently. Rather than let information get passed around or assumptions be made, we wanted to provide everyone with a clear update directly from the owners.

HOURS
Our planned hours will be 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

BUFFET
There will not be a buffet. The Lee’s Chicken franchise has retired the buffet, so our location will not be offering one.

MENU
Our menu has not been finalized. We will share the official menu once everything has been confirmed.

OWNERSHIP & MANAGEMENT
We are proud to be locally owned and locally managed. Our owners are Dwight Gregory, Alan Hopper, Kenneth Catron, Dustin Wells, and Brandon Gehring.

“WHY IS THE REMODEL TAKING SO LONG?”
We understand that everyone is ready to see the doors open, we are too. However, this has been a full renovation, not simply a quick remodel. When we made the decision to bring Lee’s Chicken back to the community under new local ownership, we made the decision to do it right. We wanted to make sure this location was something our community could be proud of. While the building had good bones, practically everything else has been replaced, updated, or improved.

Could we have rushed through it just to open sooner? Sure. But that was never the goal.
We would rather take the time to do the job correctly and open with a restaurant we can stand behind.

We appreciate everyone who has been patient with us, and we genuinely believe the extra time and work will be worth it.

OPENING DATE
We do not have an official opening date yet. We know everyone wants a date, but until it is officially confirmed, we will not give out a date.

As soon as we have a confirmed opening date, you will hear it from us first.

WE’RE HIRING!
We are currently hiring crew members.
Applicants must:
• Be 16 years of age or older• Pass a drug screening• Pass a background check• Have reliable transportation• Have a good attitude and positive work ethic

NOTE TO OUR COMMUNITY, FOLLOWERS, AND FUTURE CUSTOMERS ❤️

We want to be very clear about this because we want our page to be a place where people can communicate with us.

Questions, comments, suggestions, and concerns are welcome. Disrespect is not.

We want to keep the comments open because we want to hear from our community. If you have a question, ask it. If you have a concern, bring it to our attention. If you have a suggestion, we’re happy to hear it.

What we will not tolerate is disrespect toward our owners, management, employees, customers, or other members of our community. We also will not tolerate people arguing with or attacking one another in our comments. You do not have to agree with everyone, but you are expected to remain respectful.

We want to leave the comments open because we believe communication is important. However, if the disrespect and arguing continue, we will have no choice but to turn the comments off. That is not what we want to do, but we will not allow this page to become a place where people feel comfortable disrespecting one another or the people working hard to bring this restaurant back. This is a locally owned business being built for this community, and we want it to reflect the kind of community we’re proud to be part of, positive, welcoming, respectful, and supportive.

We understand that you guys are excited, and we are too! We know everyone has been waiting, asking questions, and looking forward to seeing Lee’s Chicken back in our community, and we truly appreciate the excitement surrounding it.

Thank you again for the incredible outpouring of support, patience, and excitement. We are truly grateful for each and every one of you.

We’re taking our time because we plan on being here for a long time.
