Last evening, our members assisted with the annual Trick-or-Treat event in the Borough of Montoursville!

As in years past, our members handed out glow sticks to help keep all the little ghosts, goblins, and superheroes visible and safe throughout the evening! 👻

A few of our members even traded in their gear to become dinosaurs! To their surprise, they found a baby dinosaur roaming among the trick-or-treaters! 🦖

We always enjoy being part of this community tradition and seeing all the creative costumes! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! 🎃

Today, fire companies from across Lycoming and Sullivan Counties gathered for the official rollout of the Rural Water Supply Standardization Project!

Through the efforts of the West Branch Firemen’s Association SOG Committee, every company in both counties received 3” locking Storz adapters to standardize fill site operations. Companies without a 5” Jumbo Clappered Siamese received one as well!

This project was made possible through the generous donations of EQT Corporation, Seneca Resources, and State Representative Jamie Flick. Their continued support of our fire service is greatly appreciated!

A special thank you to Derek Lindquist of Fire Rescue Products and Hunter Konkle of Firematic for their outstanding work coordinating an order involving over 200 total adapters and ensuring everything was correct!

This is an incredible achievement for our region! More than a year of planning and cooperation brought departments from two counties together with one common goal: improving fireground operations and better serving our citizens.

We are incredibly thankful for EQT and their continued generosity and support of the fire service throughout Lycoming County. Many of our projects have been made possible through their gracious donations and commitment to our communities.

We sincerely appreciate everything EQT does for our local fire departments and look forward to continuing this outstanding partnership for years to come!

Just after midnight, Station 20 along with mutual aid units were alerted to the 1st due for a reported working structure fire.

Chief 20 arrived first with a single story ranch and fire showing from side alpha in the living room area. Chief 20 proceeded to conduct a 360.

Chief 1-20 arrived and established command while Tanker 20 arrived and assumed 1st due engine responsibilities. Ladder 20 arrived and assumed 1st due truck and handled horizontal ventilation and searches.

Engine 1 took the 2nd due engine responsibilities and brought water into the scene via a hydrant nearby. Engine 18 stood by on scene for any additional needs.

Engine 22 stood by at Station 20 for additional calls for service.

The fire was knocked down within 7 minutes of the dispatch. This is Station 20’s ninth confirmed working structure fire in the 1st due area this year. Thanks to our mutual aid partners for their assistance.

Tonight was a special night at Station 20! 🥳🎂

Nolan celebrated HIS birthday with us tonight, but little did he know, we had a pretty special birthday present waiting for him!

If you’ve spent any time around our department, you know Nolan. His love for the fire service, his excitement every time the trucks roll out, and his unwavering support for our members are second to none.

Nolan doesn’t wear the gear, ride the trucks, or respond to emergencies, but that hasn’t stopped him from being one of our biggest supporters. He genuinely loves this department, the people in it, and everything we stand for. That kind of passion deserves an opportunity.

After working with our solicitor, we incorporated provisions allowing 15-year-olds to participate in an approved ride-along program.

Tonight, we surprised Nolan with the paperwork to begin that journey!

For the next year, Nolan will have the opportunity to ride along, observe our operations, learn from our members, and begin understanding what it means to do things the Montoursville way! When he turns 16, he’ll be eligible to officially join our ranks as a junior firefighter.

The future of the fire service doesn’t start when someone puts on a helmet. It starts when someone develops a love for the job and the people who do it.

Nolan has already demonstrated that love time and time again.

We’re big believers in investing in the next generation, and sometimes that means recognizing the passion in a young man and giving him an opportunity to turn that passion into something much bigger.

Happy Birthday, Nolan! We’re proud to have you as part of our Station 20 family, and we can’t wait to watch you grow into this profession.

You’ve supported us for years. Now it’s our turn to invest in YOU!

🚒 That’s a wrap on Fire Prevention Week! 🔥

Today, we completed our final annual Fire Prevention Day with the students of Lyter Elementary School!

Over the past week and a half, our firefighters have had the pleasure of visiting nearly 695 students from preschool through 4th grade, including all students at Loyalsock Valley Elementary and Lyter Elementary.

We enjoyed the opportunity to teach our community’s youngest members about fire safety, prevention, and what to do in an emergency. We hope these lessons will help keep them and their families safe for years to come!

A huge thank you to the staff and administration at both schools for welcoming us into your classrooms, and a special thank you to the PTO associations for generously providing breakfast and lunch for our firefighters throughout our visits. Your kindness and support are greatly appreciated!

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Company , Plunketts Creek Township Fire Department , and Williamsport Regional Airport Fire/Rescue - Station 19 for taking the time to assist with our fire prevention presentations and work with the students. Your participation helped make this year's program a success!

Most importantly, thank you to all the students for being such great listeners and participants! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Fire safety starts with education, and we’re proud to serve our community! ❤️🚒

Station 20 along with the working fire units were alerted to the first due this afternoon for a reported commerical building fire. The details were updated to a dumpster on fire against the building.

Tanker, Engine, and Chief 20 arrived to find the same. The fire was knocked down quickly, keeping the fire from extending inside the building.

Thanks to our mutual aid partners who assisted on scene!!

HOME GROWN AND BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP!!

Congratulations to Fireman Louie Gamburg on earning his black leather helmet at the 20 House!

A few years ago, Louie walked through our doors with absolutely no firefighting experience. No certifications. No background in the fire service. Just a willingness to learn and put in the work.

Today, Louie has earned his Firefighter I certification, completed his probationary firefighter book, and earned his black helmet. THIS is what building a culture looks like.

Everyone wants experienced firefighters walking through their doors. But there’s something far more rewarding about taking someone with zero experience and developing them into someone you’re willing to go down a hot dark hallway with. That takes committed officers, dedicated instructors, countless hours of training, and most importantly, a member willing to meet the standard.

We don’t lower our expectations to accommodate inexperience. We develop inexperienced members to meet our expectations. Louie is another example of what happens when you invest in your people and refuse to compromise your standards. The black helmet isn’t the finish line. It’s truly the starting line.

Congratulations, Louie! You’ve earned every bit of it!

Stop waiting for good firefighters to walk through your doors. BUILD THEM!!

Station 20 was dispatched this evening for the 2nd alarm in the city of Williamsport for a commercial building fire. Engine 20 and Car 20 were at CAFCA training on search in zero visibility and responded.

Engine 20 arrived and took the 3rd due engine responsibilities, bringing our own water into the rear with us from a hydrant. Crews split with two assisting with vertical ventilation and three stretching the 400’ 1.75” line into the rear. Engine 20 began attempting to locate the fire with members from the Williamsport Bureau of Fire. Members were met with high heat and zero visibility. Due to rotation of members for low air, members from Squad 14 and Chief 1-20 located the fire and began knocking the fire.

Strong work to all companies working this fire and containing it to the area of origin.
