We always think thereโs more time.
More time to read the ballot. More time to talk it over at the kitchen table. More time before Colorado looks like a place we donโt recognize.
Then the ballots show up, Election Day is November 3, and that time is gone.
This one is different. Statewide, voters are deciding whether Colorado keeps a flat income tax or replaces it with a graduated tax that can climb to 8.4% (Amendment 87). Proposition 136 does the opposite and caps the rate at todayโs 4.4%. Those two canโt both win in any real sense. One of them will shape what you pay, and what this state becomes, for years.
Thatโs not the only thing on the ballot. Mail-ballot ID. Hunting and fishing. Girlsโ sports by biological s*x. Penalties for fentanyl and child trafficking. Whether gender-transition surgery on minors stays legal. Whether TABOR refunds come back to you or get kept in Denver. And here in Montrose, city charter questions on moving council elections to November, term limits, and real accountability for how the city manager hires and fires the police chief and city clerk.
None of that passes itself. And none of it gets undone easily if we sit this one out.
We put together a simple voter guide so you donโt have to guess. Republican candidates. Statewide measures. Local city questions. Yes where we believe it protects this community. No where we believe it raises taxes and weakens Colorado.
Read it. Screenshot it. Send it to the friend who says theyโll โfigure it out later.โ
Later is how we got here.
Know before you vote. November 3, 2026.
