⚠️🚲 You've seen them. We've seen them.

And we know there have been some questions about what exactly qualifies as an e-bike. 👀

Lawful e-bikes are allowed, but electric dirt bikes, e-motos, off-highway vehicles, and similar motorized recreational devices may not meet the legal definition of an e-bike or may not be permitted on public property.

Before you hop on and head out, take a minute to know what you're riding and where you're allowed to ride it.

☕️ Happy National Coffee Day!

Fall is here, the leaves are changing, and somewhere out there, an MPD police officer is ordering a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Is it basic? Absolutely. Is it good? Also absolutely. 🎃☕️

💙 A big thank you to Ugly Ducklings And Their Dog for their generous donation to the Monument Police Department!

These two boys and their dog create fun and functional 3D-printed items, and they’re using their creativity to give back to first responders. For every 10 items they sell, they donate a sensory bag to a first responder.

They recently dropped off 10 sensory bags for our department, and we are grateful for their generosity and the thought behind each one. These bags will be a great resource for our officers to have available when interacting with community members who may benefit from sensory support.

Thank you, Ugly Ducklings and Their Dog, for thinking of our officers and the community we serve. We appreciate you! 🦆🐾💙

🌕 Midnight Shift Check-In 🌕

Yep. It’s a full moon tonight.

No, we’re not saying that explains anything that happens tonight.

We’re also not saying it doesn’t. 👀

The midnight crew is out, the radios are on, and we’re keeping an eye on things while everyone else is hopefully making good decisions.

To be fair, it is a pretty nice night for a full moon. So enjoy the view, appreciate the scenery, and if you happen to see a werewolf wandering around...

In accordance with Colorado law, the Monument Police Department has been notified Adam Joseph Petrie will be moving into the community and is registered at 16585 Curled Oak Dr – Apt. B in the municipal limits of the Town of Monument. Adam Joseph Petrie is a s*x offender whose past behavior has led him to be labeled a “S*xually Violent Predator” (SVP) by the State of Colorado. Accordingly, the Monument Police Department is notifying the community as required by law and undertaken the following tasks, among others:

• Notified the Division of Criminal Justice’s S*x Offender Management Board (SOMB) Notification Team.
• Reviewed and confirmed Adam Joseph Petrie’s residence, employment, access to vehicles, legal status, and past crimes.
• Made notifications to neighbors and businesses deemed to be in the immediate area.
• Briefed patrol personnel on Adam Joseph Petrie’s status, history, appearance, residence, employment, and vehicles.
• Notified surrounding law enforcement agencies.
• Provided an online video which describes the SVP Community Notification process, SVP information, and additional resources for the community.
• Posted an Online SVP Community Notification video at: https://www.townofmonument.org/185/Police-Department - navigate to the S*x Offender tab.

Adam Joseph Petrie has complied with his requirement to register with the Monument Police Department. The Police Department will take every reasonable step to ensure Adam Joseph Petrie complies with his registration terms and fully understands his responsibilities.

Adam Joseph Petrie’s criminal history reveals he was convicted of:

Lewd and Lascivious Assault on a child under 16, Martin County, FL – 1991
Battery on a Person 12 Years of Age or Older, Martin County, FL - 1991

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE: Old Denver Rd is About to Have a Moment 🚧

Alright folks, listen up. Old Denver Rd is CLOSED to through traffic starting Monday, September 14, 2026, through Friday, October 2, 2026. That's about 3 weeks, so mark your calendars, set a reminder, tattoo it on your arm, whichever works for you.

The fine print:
🏠 If you live there, you're fine. Local traffic still gets in.
🚗 Everyone else, take the detour like a responsible adult: Through traffic should use the detour: W Baptist Rd and Hwy 105 to Jackson Creek Parkway.
🚫 Got a vehicle with 3+ axles? Old Denver Rd isn't for you right now. Don't test us.

We know detours are nobody's favorite plot twist, but the road needs some love, and we'd rather do it right than do it twice. Silver lining: there's some good coffee along the detour route if you need a consolation latte to get through it. ☕
