Welcome to the official page of Pine Lake Preparatory Pine Lake Preparatory is an accredited K-12 North Carolina public charter school established in 2006.

Students may choose to focus in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math track in addition to a variety of Fine Arts courses to complement their core curricula.

Senior Biomedical Capstone students recently stepped into an operating room setting for an immersive, hands-on learning experience with Dr. Vivek Trivedi and representatives from Iredell Memorial Hospital and Boston Scientific. Students learned about anesthesia techniques, practiced suturing, and used an endoscope to retrieve marbles, buttons, and gummy bears from a simulated stomach. Working alongside medical professionals with real medical equipment brought classroom learning to life and gave students an exciting look at careers in healthcare. Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible!

PLP, now that we have had a minute, can we talk about that Cake Walk at the 20th Birthday Bash? If this was your first Cake Walk experience, we need to clear up a few things so you don't walk into another with the bar set too high.

1. Yes, it is typical for there to be donated cakes that participants compete to win.

No it is NOT typical for there to be 45 cakes! Our local community contributed in a huge way, with beautifully decorated cakes donated from , Nothing Bundt Cakes (Mooresville), I Hardt Sugar, Deluxe Bakery, and two from alumni parent, . Then Lowes Foods donated 40 cakes! 40!

2. Cake walks are often to raise money for schools or other non-profits. Each participant pays a small fee to "walk." For our 20th Birthday Bash we wanted as much as possible to be free for families to enjoy. It was all, "You get a cake. And YOU get a cake!"

3. Yes, there is typically an emcee who stops the music and keeps the fun going with commentary.

No, it is NOT typical to have Mr. Crowe-caliber entertainment, including his own original song, "Chocolate Cake" playing during the competition. Add to that, one Middle School Principal, Mrs. Reuter, who came armed with cake-related jokes.

4. No, it is not typical, but so encouraged, to have another administrator, Mrs. Miller, show up to the Cake Walk like THIS!

Thanks for showing up, PLP and surrounding community, to make this one EPIC Cake Walk - it took the cake!

Our new academic building is really starting to take shape! Over Fall Break, crews began installing the steel framework, and we recently celebrated a major construction milestone: topping out, the placement of the building's final structural beam.

To make the occasion special, Myers & Chapman helped us arrange for the final beam to be painted navy blue and signed by our teachers, staff, and Class of 2027 before it was lifted into place.

While our seniors won't get to attend classes in the new building, they've officially left their mark on PLP's future!

We're excited to see construction continue as we work toward opening the building for the 2027–2028 school year.
