I had an opportunity to set the record straight on Treatment Court participation and issues plaguing the Clay County Attorney's Office. Accurate information is essential for voters.

I was proud to attend the opening of the new Veterans Treatment Court at the Cass County Courthouse in Fargo last week.

I was fortunate to serve on the Clay County Veterans Treatment Court team when the program launched and saw firsthand the difference treatment courts can make in helping people get their lives back on track while promoting accountability and public safety.

I believe the Clay County Attorney’s Office needs to restore its commitment to treatment courts by attending and participating in Clay County’s DWI Court, Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court.

Currently, no Clay County prosecutors attend treatment court meetings, argue for sanctions when there are rule violations, or weigh in on who should participate in the programs.

We can hold people accountable while recognizing that addressing the underlying causes of criminal behavior can help reduce recidivism and build safer communities - but we have to show up.

If elected County Attorney on November 3rd, my office would immediately return to our seat at the table on all treatment court teams.

For the first time in 20 years, Clay County voters have a choice for County Attorney. The difference in leadership matters.

From restoring participation in treatment courts to improving case management and charging decisions, retaining good attorneys, and strengthening community partnerships, I’m ready to bring fresh leadership and a smarter approach to public safety in Clay County.

We closed out parade season with MHS Homecoming on Friday and Concordia on Saturday. 🥔🌽❤️ It was great to be a part of so many celebrations across Clay County and to connect with voters who are ready for change.

Pretty cool that our local Treatment Court event was highlighted as we closed out National Recovery Month in September.

Treatment Courts are important tools and are designed to have a prosecutor’s input. Having the Clay County Attorney’s Office pull out of all operating treatment courts (DWI, Drug & Veterans) for a full year is doing a disservice to the participants, the programs, and our community.
