This week I noticed these brown mushrooms popping up in a yard in my neighborhood. These are mushrooms from Armillaria root rot. If you see these mushrooms at the base of a tree on popping up in the grass, there is a good chance a tree or large shrub in the area has been infected by this root rot. The fungus grows in large roots and eventually grows up the trunk of the tree. When it grows up the trunk of the tree it kills the plant. Be aware of these mushrooms if they are in your yard.

Don’t forget that you can use your SNAP benefits at
some local farmers markets. At the welcome table at the farmers market, ask if they accept EBT as a form of payment. If they do, they should give you a market scrip in exchange for your EBT payment.

Keep in mind that at some markets the option to use EBT depends on the vendor.
