Burke United Christian Ministries Since 1975 Burke United Christian Ministries has been an intergral part of our community. Giving a hand up whenever possible is our purpose.

The mission of Burke United Christian Ministries is to restore resilience in people living in poverty or experiencing homelessness ensuring their essential needs are met. Feeding every person walking into the Soup Kitchen a nutritious meal, listening to our neighbors' stories, sharing hospitality, counseling in times of crisis, assisting families in crisis with food, clothing and financial assistance. We assist those in danger of experiencing homelessness through emergency funds for utilities and rent. We accomplish our purpose with Christ at the forefront of all we do. Through Christian love, fellowship, and works, we bring our community together in realizing the Gospel daily.

What's That Wednesday - Crisis and H.O.P.E. Center

Crisis Assistance can be used to help pay rent, power or water bills. This process is handled over the phone only. In order to meet the crisis qualification, there must be something to occur within the last 14 days that prevents someone from paying that bill. A client must have a eviction notice or disconnect notice. This assistance is on a case by case basis, and can be used once a year.

The H.O.P.E. Center provides services for the unhoused population. Clients are able to take showers, do laundry, and visit the clothing closet.
Showers are available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 1:30 pm. All supplies are provided to clients and can be used every day.
Each client is able to wash one load of laundry once a week, from 9 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Friday. Detergent is provided.
Once every 15 days, clients can visit the Clothing Closet for a change of clothes. A change of clothes includes shirt, pants, undergarments and socks. This is available from 9 am to 1:30 pm Monday through Friday.

BUCM is proud to be partnering with to provide free opioid overdose response training!

Every Thursday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm training will be provided by a staff member from Burke Recovery. This training will teaches lifesaving overdose response, proper storage and disposal of medications, and the signs of an overdose.
You will receive a certificate upon completion of the training.

What's That Wednesday - Food Ministries

The Food Ministry includes the Food Pantry and the Soup Kitchen.

The Food Pantry is open Monday through Friday from 10 to 2 with the last sign up being at 1:45. We are the only USDA pantry left in Burke County and have been serving an average of 45 or more clients each day. The pantry provides supplemental groceries to low income families, including a variety of canned goods, dry goods, meat, bread and fresh produce (when available). Clients are able to get a food box once every 28 days.

The Soup Kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 11 to 12:30 for lunch. Each day a free, hot, nutritious meal is served. The kitchen is open to anyone who may be in need of a hot meal that day. There is no check in process, just walk down the hall and you will be served.

In need of extra grocery assistance this month?

A mobile food pantry will be happening on Tuesday October 27th. It will begin at 9 am and run while supplies last.
Please note, there is a limit of 2 households per vehicle.
