We are proud to announce that hundreds of families have used our Community Seed Library to help grow their own gardens at home. Annual and perennial flowers have made up at least 33% of the 1,400+ packets that have gone to a neighborhood near you. We hope you've been saving your seeds so you can bring some to the Community Seed Swap on November 7!

Are you bringing seeds on November 7?

Attendees can bring their seeds in any container they wish! Individual envelopes, baggies, jars, and commercial packs are all welcome! Just be sure to include some vital information to share with other fellow gardeners.

Don't have any seeds to swap yet? Come anyway! Free seeds will be available from the Seed Library. Local experts like the WVU Monongalia County Extension Service Master Gardeners and other organizations will be ready to answer all of your gardening questions. And the first 100 people to attend will be given a free seed-saving kit with some native seeds included!

By popular demand! Evening Water-Bath Canning Workshop at Mylan Park.

Let’s preserve the flavors of the season together. The WVU Monongalia County Extension Service is partnering with extension agent Hannah Fincham to host an evening hands-on food preservation workshop in our kitchen at Mylan Park.

On Monday October 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., we will learn about the science behind canning and about how to use a water-bath canner.

Space is very limited and will fill up quickly. First come, first serve. Preregistration is required by calling our office at (304) 291-7201 to sign up. (Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.)

The cost is $10 per person to cover the cost of supplies. (Check or cash only.) Scholarships are available.
