Our 5th graders spent today in the STEM lab gearing up for the annual Pumpkin Drop! 🎃

They reviewed the engineering and model-building process, researched different forms of air resistance and impact absorption, and even watched clips from WVU's annual pumpkin drop for some real-world inspiration! 🍂

Then the real work began. Students teamed up to design a plan to protect their pumpkin, presented their ideas (and explained why they think their design will work!), and put together a list of the materials they'll need. 📋✏️

We can't wait to see these designs take flight… and hopefully land safely! 🎃⬇️ Stay tuned for drop day!

Art, music, Spanish, and PE aren't "extras" in our building. They're where a lot of the magic happens. 🎨🎵🌎⚽

In related arts, our students get to create, perform, move, and see the world through a new lens. Mr. Jaros teaches them to take creative risks and look at problems from different angles. Mr. Lambert’s music class builds memory, focus, rhythm & coordination. Mrs. Garcia’s Spanish class opens doors to new cultures and helps them understand their neighbors. Mrs. Starkey & Mr. Bohon help build healthy habits, teamwork, and resilience in PE.

For many kids, a related arts class is where they shine ☀️brightest and where they first discover what they love. These classes reach the whole child: their creativity, their bodies, their hearts, and their curiosity about the world.

A huge thank-you to Brookhaven’s related arts teachers, who bring so much energy and passion to our school every single day. 🖤❤️ Bulls are the BEST!!

4th Grade STEM at Brookhaven Elementary!🌸🐝

Our 4th graders have been busy exploring the amazing world of pollination! Students studied the structure of a flower, identifying parts like the petals, stamen, and pistil, and discovered how each part plays a role in helping plants reproduce. 🌼

The best part? They learned that these parts don't work alone. Together they form a system, with pollinators like bees and butterflies helping connect it all! 🦋🐝

We love seeing our young scientists think critically about how nature works together! Bulls are the BEST!❤️🖤🎯

It's Pre-K Wednesday!!!

Our youngest Bulls in Ms. Shalyn’s class were learning all about their five senses through a delicious apple exploration!

Students used their senses to look at, smell, touch, listen to, and taste apples as they explored their characteristics. They even tasted both red and green apples and compared the differences between them! 🍏🍎

What a fun, hands-on way to learn! We love seeing our Pre-K students using their curiosity to explore the world around them. ❤️🖤

Exploring the Universe in 4th Grade TAG!

Our 4th grade TAG students have been busy exploring the planets through an exciting science project!

Students researched a planet and created a “Planet Passport” filled with important facts and information. Then, they put their knowledge to the test by designing and building a 3D alien with adaptations that would allow it to survive on their chosen planet! 👽✨

The final products are out of this world! 🌟 Our students put so much creativity, thought, and effort into their projects, and we are incredibly proud of their amazing work!

Mrs. Slavey’s reading group had a great time putting their learning into action! After working with prefixes and suffixes, students took center stage and performed a Readers Theater for their classmates. 🎭📖

Students used what they learned to personalize their scripts and make the performance their own. Their creativity, teamwork, and understanding of how prefixes and suffixes can change the meaning of words were on full display!

Way to go, readers! We love seeing our Bulls learning, collaborating, and having fun along the way! ❤️🖤
