Community Notice

Gravel has spilled on the Walnut Street Bridge. Please use caution while driving through the area. City crews are responding to clear the gravel, and we hope to resolve the issue soon. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Cupcakes and informational poster boards are in the Courthouse Square from 11:00am-1:00pm today.

Congratulations to County Planner Patricia Booth on receiving the 2026 Outstanding Chapter Volunteer Award from the American Planning Association.

Ms. Booth earned this award for her duties as the APA WV webmaster. She has served as the APA WV Webmaster since 2022 and aided in the transition of the APA WV website to the National Platform. The website has changed from an old-school style website to new and up to date. Extra effort is given during the WV legislative season to track important planning related legislative issues to make them more widely known and easy to find.

Traffic Alert: The I-79 South ramp to I-68 East will be shutdown overnight Wednesday, August 25 into Thursday, August 27.

Motorist can use alternate route is continuing on to the Goshen Road exit at mile marker 146 and getting back onto I-79 North.

Work will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday and end by 6 a.m. Thursday.

The BZA will meet on August 19, 2026 at 6:00pm via Zoom only.

There will be two public hearings:

CASE VAR 003-2026: A variance request to reduce the front yard setback from 30 feet to 10 feet for the property legally described as Union Tax Map 21 parcel 1.6. The applicant is proposing to install a 20 by 25 foot storage shed at 3 Vanessa Lane.

CASE VAR 004-2026: A variance request to reduce the rear yard setback from 40 feet to 20 feet for the property legally described as Union Tax Map 12A parcel 14. The applicant is proposing to construct a 2-story residence at 152 Boston Street.
