** RECOGNITION- CHIEF KOROSKI - 25 YEARS OF SERVICE **

On August 1, 2026, while Chief Michael Koroski was attending the FBI National Academy, he reached a remarkable milestone: 25 years of service to the Borough of Morris Plains.

On Friday, October 23rd, the Borough presented Chief Koroski a custom rocking chair in recognition of his quarter-century of steadfast leadership, integrity, and protection of our community.

Chief Koroski was surrounded by his family and colleagues and it was a special moment to reflect on everything he has accomplished—and to celebrate his continued leadership.

Please join us in thanking Chief Koroski for 25 outstanding years of service to the Borough of Morris Plains and the Morris Plains Police Department. We look forward to continue working with him.

Found Friend Looking to Go Home!

We know how much a special stuffie can mean to a little one, and someone out there is definitely missing their plush companion.

Our team recently came across this lost little guy while out on patrol on Speedwell Avenue near Academy Road. We suspect it must have slipped out during a walk.

If this looks familiar or belongs to someone in your family, we’d love to help get them back home where they belong! Please send us a direct message or call the Department: 973-538-2284

It’s that time of season again. As the mornings get crisper, the low-angle sun creates dangerous blind spots and severe glare during the morning commute.

When visibility drops, our most vulnerable road users are put at risk. Please slow down in residential neighborhoods and school zones, eliminate distractions, and keep a sharp eye out for children and our crossing guards who help them get to school safely.

A few quick reminders for the morning drive:
Reduce your speed: Treat heavy morning glare like you would any other low-visibility weather event.
Increase following distance: Give yourself extra braking room in case traffic stops abruptly ahead.

Watch the crosswalks: Low sunlight can completely obscure pedestrians and school crosswalks.

Let’s look out for one another and keep our streets safe this season.

From the Desk of Chief Michael Koroski:

Over the past several days, I have received several concerns and complaints regarding speeding and other dangerous driving behaviors on our residential roadways.

I would like to remind the public that the speed limit on residential roadways is 25 MPH, which my officers have been directed to strictly enforce. Speeders and dangerous drivers can expect to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

I am asking for the public’s partnership in protecting our community by: slowing down, yielding to pedestrians, avoiding distractions while driving, and practicing patience and safety while driving.

Although our personnel have been actively enforcing residential areas throughout town, if you have a specific concern or location you think targeted enforcement should be conducted, you may contact the MPPD Traffic Safety Unit at [email protected].

To all parents and guardians in Morris Plains and surrounding communities:

We need you to have an urgent, serious conversation with your children tonight regarding a dangerous viral trend making the rounds: late-night “door-kicking” pranks.

What kids and teenagers may view as a harmless prank or a social media stunt is creating a dangerous situation for everyone involved.

When a loud, violent crash hits a front door late at night, with communities in NJ experiencing home invasion burglaries, a homeowner has milliseconds to react. They do not know it is a prank. They assume an aggressive, violent home invasion is happening. A split second decision to defend a scared family could result in a catastrophe.

A Message to the Participants:

If your child or someone you know is participating in these late-night door-kicking incidents, stop immediately.
What feels like a game to a group of friends looks entirely like a violent felony to the family on the other side of the door. Before law enforcement investigates these reports and takes formal enforcement action to identify and charge those responsible, these individuals need to understand the gravity of their actions and put an immediate end to this behavior.

Talk to your kids tonight. Make sure they understand that a prank is never worth the possible consequences.

Morris Plains Chief of Police Graduates from FBI National Academy

Morris Plains, NJ - On September 23, 2026, the Morris Plains Police Department announced that Chief Michael Koroski has graduated as a member of the 299th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on September 17th, 2026. Chief Koroski is the second officer in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

The 299th session consisted of two hundred and sixty-five law enforcement officers who graduated today from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The 299th session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 44 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 28 countries, five military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations.

Chief Koroski stated, “Graduating from the FBI National Academy has been an extraordinary honor, an experience defined by world class education, demanding physical training, and the strength of a vast law enforcement network of domestic and international partners that the Morris Plains Police Department now has access to. I am deeply grateful to the members of the department that carried the mission forward and cared for this community, as they always do, during my absence. I’m also grateful for Jennifer, my wife, and our three boys who sacrificed their summer and our usual vacation plans, so that I could accomplish this career milestone.”

About the FBI National Academy
FBI Academy instructors, special agents, and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training; many instructors are recognized internationally in their fields. Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits all the National Academy courses offered.

A total of 57,461 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
