Here’s a highlight from last week – cyclists stopped in Morrison on their way to complete the American Discovery 250 Relay! Though it was muddy and wet, we are grateful for visitors that take their appreciation of our country’s trails to the next level. We hope they enjoyed our little museum and a glimpse of Grundy County’s part in the history of our nation.

Donated by the Bakker family, these wonderful tables at Grundy County Lake were installed in loving memory of Ron Bakker. He loved spending time counting the geese and watching his grandchildren fish at the lake. We are very grateful for their contribution; it will help many families enjoy being together and spending time outdoors, just as Ron has done with his own family.

That “rain rain” would not go away! But we are so thankful for everyone who attended Pioneer Craft Fair and weathered the storm with us. Though we were limited in what we could do that day, we hope that everyone who stopped by was still able to have some fun. Here’s to hoping for sunshine and good times for Pioneer Craft Fair 2027!

Due to the rain, the Pioneer Craft Fair has become a cozy indoor event! While some things have been cancelled, we will still have hot food, sweet treats, crafts, baked goods for sale, and warm museum buildings full of displays to see. This Sunday is rather dark, but there’s still an opportunity to bring your families on a memorable day out. Please come and visit!

Tickets are available at the Grundy County Conservation office and from the Historical Collections Board members. Tickets will also be available during the Pioneer Craft Fair as well, where this print will be on display for all to see before it goes home with the lucky winner.
