🚒 Kitchell Memorial Library teamed up with the Morrisonville-Palmer Fire Protection District for a special Story Hour in honor of Fire Prevention Week!

We read "Ready, Set, Rescue!" and had a visit with a local firefighter who talked to the kids about his gear, what to do in an emergency, and, most importantly, reminded everyone that firefighters are there to help and aren’t scary!

The kids made their own helmets and had a great time learning and playing. A huge thank-you to our volunteer firefighter, Quint, for spending the morning with us and helping our little ones learn about fire safety! 🧯

All area children ages birth to 5 are welcome to join us every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. for Story Hour at KML.

The 8th Annual IHLS Library Crawl is here, and we’re excited to announce that Kitchell Memorial Library is participating this year!

Would you like to join in the fun? Stop by to pick up your Library Crawl passport anytime from October 1 to October 31, visit 5 or more stops, and return your passport for a chance to win a canvas bag filled with bookish goodies! There will also be a coloring page available to enter our October children’s giveaway.

The Library Crawl is a great opportunity to explore member libraries that share resources with us. Although we are a small library, your library card gives you access to borrow materials from all member libraries within the Illinois Heartland Library System. With hundreds of libraries in the system, we even have a delivery service that brings materials to us five days a week.

Get ready to explore libraries all across central and southern Illinois! Happy crawling!
