PUBLIC NOTICE | Upcoming Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given that the Hamblen County Legislative Body will conduct a Public Hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2026, during the regularly scheduled Commission Meeting in the Large Courtroom of the Hamblen County Courthouse, located at 511 West Second North Street, Morristown, Tennessee 37814.

The Public Hearing will be open to the public for the purpose of receiving comments regarding a proposed resolution to amend the Zoning Map of Hamblen County, Tennessee, by rezoning District 3, Tax Map 018, Parcel 077.00, located at 5095 Old Kentucky Road, Morristown, Tennessee 37814, from A-1 (Agricultural) to R-1 (Residential).

Following the Public Hearing, the proposed resolution may be considered for discussion, deliberation, and possible action by the Hamblen County Legislative Body during the Regular Commission Meeting.

The Hamblen County Health Department will be closed Thursday, October 8th through Monday, October 12th to move into their new building. The health department will be back to normal operating hours on Tuesday, October 13th at their new address: 1570 Buffalo Trail Suite 1, Morristown, TN 37814.

For anyone seeking services from the health department, including vital records, please feel free to contact any of the area local health departments. The health departments closest to Hamblen County include Cocke County Health Department, Grainger County Health Department, and Jefferson County Health Department.

School Zone Signage Change in Russellville

Starting Monday, September 21, due to ongoing road construction, the school zone signs for Russellville Primary and Russellville Intermediate are transitioning to static signs WITHOUT flashing beacons.

Crucial Reminder: School zone laws remain in full effect during designated hours, whether a light is flashing or not.

Where: Hwy 11E - Russellville Primary & Russellville Intermediate zones
Speed Limit: 20 MPH
Hours: Monday–Friday | 7:10-8:00 AM & 2:50-3:30 PM.

Please note that law enforcement will be actively present and monitoring traffic to enforce speed compliance during these hours.
